I try to be diplomatic to Starlight fans, but after the season 7 premier, I can’t even begin to imagine how better the show would be if Starlight was just allowed to GO and do magical research in the crystal empire with Sunburst and occasionally travel with Trixie.
 
It was so lame how they showed us a excellent alternative but then cowered out at the last second as if she was some college freshman that gets homesick way too easily. She was basically begging to be the center of attention for another season, and it was completely transparent.

Those identical Trixies are kind of disturbing.

I adore Starlight, but having her get more than a cameo appearance in the movie would’ve really messed up the script, same deal with Discord.

Hm? I thought consumers were allowed to react however they choose. If they don’t like a product they can stop using it at any time. Nothing immature to that. In fact I avoided saying anything insulting, demeaning, or offensive about a third stringer character I do not like. It isn’t unique to her. I dislike any character introduced that late to the story who takes over as the main character from the one established from the opening of a series whether it be a book, cartoon, or show.

Starlight being anything besides a cameo just wouldn’t be feasible considering the movie began it’s production phase before she even existed. The script was likely finalized before she was confirmed to be a recurring character. It was nice to see her and Trixie get the little spots they did, though.

Thank goodness for that. If you had been important to the movie I’d probably have walked out.

Starlight wasn’t a protagonist when the movie was plotted out, they’d have to have basically rewritten everything to include her in a major way.
 
The one thing I do wish they would of done with her in the movie that COULD still have been done is she could of been the one to tank the Stone Magic Green thing for Twilight instead of Derpy, we lose some fanservice but it gives her a brief role but one that makes sense.

Giving Starlight more billing then Fluttershy or Applejack has NEVER been an issue for DHX, they embrace it wholeheartedly.
 
That being said, the movie’s story was written long before Starlight was a protagonist, so it was literally never going to happen for the first movie.

Seeing how Fluttershy and AJ were background ponies in that film, I doubt Star would’ve gotten much of a better treatment. It was basically the Twilight, Tempest, and Pinkie movie.

glim glamm you are beocming a main stay in the main series. and the story was written long before you came along. you will probably feature in the next one.
 
also more than likely you were preparing to retake equestria before the mane six came back and made sure ponies were safe.
