It stands to reason that if Sunset was able to use some sort of magic before her own pendant showed up, and even more bizarrely, the other six who aren’t even natural equestrian, then the Dazzlings could probably harness something as they currently are, if given enough time. And god knows they’re getting plenty.
It seems fairly odd to me that the Siren species would straight up need a gem of some sort to take negative emotion to feed on and such. Kinda seems more like something they’d just have to empower their natural born ability to do so, hence the banishment in the first place. If there’s other sirens in the world, seems kind of improbable that they’d be relying on an individual gem they each have to survive that way.
So if the Dazzlings still have that theorized natural born ability to feed on that negative emotion without a gem, then there’s plenty going for the idea that some new magical bullshit leaking into the world can help them do that better.
Edited
Probably snatching any other item that becomes magical.
Their pendants are broken, what use would they have for it?
Well there would be a good reason to bring them back now. I mean we’ve been shown that magic is leaking out of the portal into various inanimate objects, who’s to say that the Dazzlings won’t get their hands on some kind of magic as well?
They’ll bring them back when they have reason to bring them back. You don’t throw in old things people liked just for the hell of it. You do it because it’s what’s best for the story.
They’re not ALL getting btfo. Some have reasonable points of view that can explain it. Was a decent discussion on both views a page or two back in these comments.
Just a lot less noticable to see them while there’s a bunch of people of both sides screaming it is or isn’t just because.
It’s a little more complex than that. Anyone who denies it being canon is getting BTFO, while the rest are discussing the implications of this. How much EqG will be drawn on for the show in the future. I’m just thriving off the butthurt.
Why specifically pick the dazzlings, then? Why, out of all the other mythical creatures in the show, choose them? The fact they were noted in the script indicates that the team had intentionally selected them early on in the development of the episode. If EQG isn’t your cup of tea, that’s perfectly fine. But grasping at straws trying to disprove its canonicity–for no other reason than simply because you dislike the series–is petty and futile at best.

Actually they. Why? Because if the producers didn’t want it to be the case they would have used any other creature in the vastness of the series as a threat for the legends to face. But they didn’t, they used the Dazzling specifically.
They wouldn’t have done that if they didn’t want establish them as canonical to the main series.
That goes for the comics also, in which they state that the Legends of Magic series ties directly into the season 7 finale, in that series the Dazzlings are referred to by name specifically. This not only shows that the show writers and comic writers are working together to make sure both series tied together perfectly but are also making sure that there was no mistaking that EQG is also canon.
Therefore both the show and the comics confirm that EQG is 100% canon to the main series.
Now if you hate EQG that much, I suggest you start filtering the tags. Otherwise, stop desperately clawing at false facts that barely hold any weight just because you don’t like the series.
Scripts literally mean nothing
Things get added and removed from them all the time
There was supposed to be a “Cupcakes” joke at the end of Secrets and Pies, but it was cut.
An entire series of pony barbie dolls is not canon to the show just because characters who were from Equestria appear in FiM.
It wasn’t solidly canon in the early days because Hasbro/DHX was still in new territory with EQG and not entirely sure how it should relate to the main show. At this point, though, they have a much better idea of how the two universes should be linked. The appearance of the dazzlings–characters previously exclusive to the EQG franchise–in Shadow Play (yes, they are specifically noted as being the same characters in the script) confirms that EQG is canon, at the very least from that episode forward.
@IceKitsune
I’m sorry, but the show blatantly contradicts EqG in every capacity
Your series will never be canon no matter how much you want it to be
That is indeed the most likely reason why the team chose not to put the mirror there. But that’s only a meta explanation. We were contending over an in-context account of why the mirror isn’t present.
@darknessRising24
@Background Pony #784A
@cloudkicker108
You are all missing the biggest reason that the mirror isn’t there. The team just reused a background and it likely doesn’t depict the part of the castle where the mirror actually is. Even if you wanted to say that it does depict the same place another good reason is putting it in would take up time and resources that are better used on other things. So they didn’t as they felt it was unnecessary
Edited
As darknessRising24 already pointed out, it’s likely that Twilight usually has the mirror stored away (wouldn’t want random humans accidentally stumbling into the pony world, now would we?) and had it specially brought out in “Mirror Magic” because she knew Sunset would be returning.
@angrybrony
The mirror, set up in Rainbow Rocks, was shown to still be in the same place in Mirror Magic while not being there in the show.
This means that the mirror does not exist thus EqG is not canon. It doesn’t matter if characters from Equestria are in FiM even if they came from EqG.
there were shown in shadow play.
1: Mirror Magic Takes place after that.
2: Twilight could’ve simply moved the mirror.
3: The show used those specific characters. So yeah, EQG is canon.
They are comming out of the woodworks. BP’s been complaining in all the Sirens stuff from the finale.
Sad, really. I was hoping all the sudden flood of notification was people wanting to discuss. Not a bunch of whiny babies.
