Hi, everyone.

I know I just got back to making art recently, but I just watched another new episode of MLP, and I no longer have any desire to watch the show. I’m no longer a fan.

Throughout the series, I’ve seen many lies told (or implied) about how the world works:

-Flurry Hearts temper tantrum has been validated
-It teaches that love (as a battle tactic), and simply talking to your enemy is the way to eliminate evil from their hearts (bullcrap if I ever heard it)
-It has consistently portrayed the younger generation as wiser and smarter than the elder generation (if people really believe that sort of thing, I’ll sell my bonds)
-Rainbow Dash said her big ego gives her the courage to fail. (That’s bull. A big ego like hers makes you refuse to accept failure, and blame it on others.)
-The EQG movies have portrayed competition as an inherently bad thing even if it’s just in sports.
~~The show has said to “just use your eyes” which means to judge something by how it looks.
-Rainbow’s parents are not ideal parents. They told their daughter she’s special just because and gave her trophies for doing the most natural and mundane things. Raising a child that way is an easy way to make them self-centered, and arrogant. I know because I’ve been kicked, and spit on by them.
-Legend of Everfree said “here to learn what nature teaches” when all that nature does teach is survival of the fittest. As a student in the field of natural resources, I know that nature is beautiful and fascinating, but outside of that is uncivil, and replete with struggle, danger, and death.

This isn’t to say that there are no good episodes in the show. Episodes like Magic Duel, Green Isn’t Your Color, Newbie Dash, Flutter Brutter, and For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils are actually good episodes with valuable lessons on morality, and how you should behave towards others around you. Flutter Brutter teaches the viewer that failure in life does not make it okay to be a freeloader especially when it’s your own fault. Newbie Dash makes it clear that words only hurt you as much as you let them. Green Isn’t Your Color speaks to one of the most fundamental elements of human nature (envy) and shows just what it makes us feel. Magic Duel shows exactly what the pursuit of power compels us to do to others. It’s just that the bad stuff bothers me too much.

The episodes and lines that are actually bad include:

-A Flurry of Emotions
-The Ticket Master
-The Crystal Empire
-Honest Apple
-Parental Glideance
-Celestial Advice
-Keep Calm and Flutter On
-A Canterlot Wedding
~~“Just use your eyes”
~~“Here to learn what nature teaches”
~~“Each one of us has something special”(meaning “you’re special just because”)
-The Cart Before the Ponies
~~“You just got to live in the moment” (this one is the worst of all)
~~“They say I’m a big shot, that my ego’s the size of a whale. My confidence comes off as cocky, but it gives me the courage to fail.”
-“Wish we could stop this race, start again and do it our way”

I could go on, but I think you all get my point. I’m now disappointed with the show, and it has too many features and aspects that do not appeal to me, and from time to time actually, lies about what the real world is like. I know it’s for children, and it’s a fantasy world, but I am not in favor of validating lies in some way.
