Is there any particular reason why Cup Cake’s a giant? Even if Pinkie’s supposed to be younger, I’m pretty sure the size difference wouldn’t be so drastic.

That’s what I was thinking. I mean we’ve seen that the Apples and Oranges are related, so why not Cakes and Pies?
 
Plus it explains why they’re surprisingly tolerant of some of her more… eccentric moment. Such as eating the food prepared for Celestia. While she’s there. I can’t see many employers excusing that if that’s the extent of their relationship.

That works fairly well. I was thinking initially that them being related didn’t make sense, but frankly… the Cake and Pie families sound like medium-distant cousins anyway.

I have a headcanons that she’s actually the Cake’s niece and was sent to live with and learn from them not long after getting her cutie mark, since a rock farm isn’t a fantastic place to develop party-related skills. She’s taken to it well.
