That’s actually my theory: That alicorns are as eternal as what they represent.
 
Cadance represents love, and now that she has found love, she will die when her love dies. The sun and moon are going to be around for eons… Ergo, Celestia and Luna will live for a very, very long time.
 
If they’re as rare as I think, Cadance is the lucky one.

People tend to make the mistake that if it’s a alicorn, it must be 1000 years old.
 
Hell, I’m conviced Equestria was a Crapsack World one thousand years ago, because basically all the villains were from that era.

But you weren’t there 1000 years ago.

Maybe her family escaped the crystal empire, and there’s been one extra (non-immortal) alicorn floating around each generation?

I personally feel she may simply be a descendant of the original crystal princess. A legacy an appearance carried by blood. I mean, in all the time she would have lived is it to believe she did not take a husband until Shining Armor? Since it seems Luna and Celestia abstain from such relationships, they may simply be different by alicorn standards… or are part of a fairly well-kept secret. It may be that they are not eternal, rather than pass on their powers and image to their successor and keep the whole process quiet.

Makes more sense that Cadance is the Princess to the Crystal Ponies, and she somehow escaped the curse/traveled through time.

You forgot that she looked much younger when Twilight was a filly, right? She is probably just a few years older than her. But considering that Alicorns seem to have a much longer time span than any pony else, she will probably still be young when Shining Armor and Twilight are long gone.  
Except Celestia and Luna are something very very special, even for Alicorns.

Oh and you know guy the arrows don’t work right for some of us, you can have the order of the comments be newest to oldest or oldest to newest, so the up and down arrows might be pointing away from who your talking to.

Luna grew as a result of her powers returning, Cadence matured physically without any visible magical effect.

Perhaps Alicorns are ‘reborn’ philamena style after X amount of years… that could explain why Cadance was so young before…

Point is, it seems unlikely that Cadance was born prior to the Empire being sealed.
