With how popular art styles change overtime, it makes me wonder. If the internet in the late 90s were as sophisticated and mainstream as it is nowadays, I wonder if there would be any people arguing about how cartoons using sharp pointy edge designs like in Dexter’s Laboratory and The Powerpuff Girls are getting oversaturated?

Yeah, it’s sad but true. I used to watch Markiplier (his FNaF review back in 2014 got me into that series…it’s a shame Scott Cawthon sold out and FNaF’s become one of “those” series now) but then I discovered his fanart, and BOY did it creep me out.
 
Fangirls seem to get more of a free pass than male bronies because the “fat a****tic neckbeards” non-bronies think we all are have become such an acceptable target, and SJWs crying “MUH OPPRESHUN!” when criticized. It doesn’t make them shipping and fetishizing REAL PEOPLE and drawing them in creepily effeminate, unnatural and over-idealized ways any less sick though. And they bash MLP porn. Apparently a woman drawing unnatural male characters is perfectly fine, but a guy drawing unnatural female characters is the worst thing ever.
 
Honestly, as for the new art style, I get a little carried away in bashing it and then occasionally realize some of it isn’t so bad. Steven Universe still annoys me quite a bit, but being an Undertale fan I give that game’s fanart more slack since those are characters I know, am familiar with and genuinely connect with and relate to, because I have played the game.

I’ve been reading yours and Beau-Skunk’s conversation and holy shit, Markiplier’s and Jacksepticeye’s fangirls have sent death threats to their real life girlfriends?! And people say that guys have no lives.  
Also, I have no problem with the Homestuck/Steven Universe artstyle most people are using nowadays. Eventually a new show or game with a different artstyle will pop up and the internet will latch onto that artstyle. Its an endless cycle.

Recently, a guy asked me if I hated romance, just ‘cause I said I’m not a big ‘shipper. Oy vey… (It’s apparently, that unusual in the brony fanbase to not ship every character/s.) I’m not against shipping, I even like a few pairings, even faved a few, I’m just not that into it.  
I also got a long lecture by somebody of why “FlutterCord” is “canon.” (You guys can ‘ship all you want, but just ‘cause two characters are great friends doesn’t make them romantic in canon.) But you can’t convince them otherwise, so I guess just let them have their fun. At least they’re fictional.
 
Honestly, I kinda prefer platonic pairings with MLP characters.
 
I don’t really like shipping adults with kid characters either, but some people here do, so be careful, as they can get VERY touchy, and defensive about that. Especially, when it comes to “RarityXSpike,” as people argue Spike isn’t an actual kid, and possibly much older then he looks, being a dragon, and such.
 
Fans in general of any fanbase can get too touchy about their ships, or attack those that don’t support them, which kinda made me lose most interest in ‘shipping. I used to like “Sonic X Princess Sally,” (back in my Sonic fandom days) but the constant arguments & fighting over “SonSal VS SonAmy, VS SonMina, VS SonShadow, VS ect.” (and fans attacking Sega or official Sonic comic story writer Ian Flynn for not making their prefered couple “canon,”) kinda made me prefer Sonic just being alone for the time being. (Besides, it’s been officially stated that Sega won’t officially give him a permanent romantic-interest in the official games/comics/shows, so all the fighting is pointless.)
 
I understand not every shipper is like that, and just ’ship for fun, but the obsessive shippers take the fun out of it.

You’ve gotten yelled at for disliking shipping? Oh my god…that’s fyaycked-up. And “incest” shipping with Applejack’s family is borderline derogatory, given the kind of character she is and how that’s going right into offensive stereotypes of “country folk.” But incest shipping cartoon characters is bad, and shipping cartoon children with cartoon adults is also bad, but at least all of them aren’t real.
 
Fangirls shipping Let’s Players or any other IRL internet or other celebrities is the worst to me since after finding a dA stamp exposing how sick it is to ship real people, I found out Markiplier and Jacksepticeye have both denounced their fans shipping them together, they both have girlfriends, and apparently some fangirls have sent their IRL girlfriends death threats and pressured them both to fulfill their shipping fantasies. That is wrong on SO MANY LEVELS. It’s one thing to ship live-action fictional characters played by real people even though I still don’t like it (I’ve seen The Doctor shipped with so many other random characters in my time,) but shipping actual people in real life is just sick.

Well, I’ve had issues with Sonic fans, but I still like Sonic, so I kinda understand how it is.
 
I don’t get shipping real people either. Sonic fans, & bronies tend to go overboard with the ‘shipping too sometimes, but not usually that far.  
I’ve actually taken heat for not being very into ‘shipping. Like one time a guy got mad at me, just ‘cause I said I didn’t really like incest shippings, (which I stated as harmlessly as I could) and that I felt they looked very stereotypical in Applejack’s case.  
Just ‘cause you aren’t a “fan” of a shipping, or something doesn’t mean you’re always a “hater,” or whatever. People are getting very touchy.

My art actually gets close to no attention at all anymore, at least on dA. A shame too, since my new stuff is way better than my old. My personal best OC pony’s new design has a total of nine faves and no comments since I submitted her almost a year ago, lol. But maybe if I switched to drawing in the Homestuck/Undertale/SU/Mystery Skulls style, I’ll start racking in the faves :P

I’ve actually never seen Adventure Time, but have always wanted to. As for Regular Show I used to watch it casually (I don’t have TV, so everything I saw was either on Youtube or downloaded off iTunes back in the day) and enjoyed the humor quite a bit. It ended recently (like earlier this year,) I only saw part of the final episode and it was…actually really sad. I won’t give away any spoilers but I will say Pops had a very big role in it.

As for Undertale, I vow to never blame the game itself because of that game’s excellent portrayal of Frisk, the heroic human child you play as who nonviolently resolves conflicts with enemies instead of killing them. It was exactly what I needed to see in early 2016, after an event at the end of 2015 I swear gave me PTSD since I can’t even Google it or have friends bring it up without bringing back how I felt for days. I will say it involved human-on-pony violence, and was cause for extreme misanthropy on my part. Undertale, with its peaceful human hero comforted me greatly, as did (and still does) Equestria Girls…the girls in the latter showed an example of humans being very cute and pony-like. I still watch the climax of Friendship Games and imagine Daydream Shimmer magically taking the hate out of me when struggling with intense anger directed at humanity.
 
But as time went on I went to realize Undertale’s fandom bothered me quite a bit. I noticed the fanart all looked the same to me (it has that Homestuck/Steven Universe aesthetic I see EVERYWHERE after 2015 or so and just looks annoying to me, I associate it with SJWs and stupid “trendy” smartphone culture like twerking, hashtags, Emojis, etc.) the fangirls ship Frisk with so many other characters, most of them adults (as someone who has had two unpleasant run-ins with possible pedophiles in his childhood I don’t appreciate seeing SJWs kawaii-ifying that stuff,) and Markiplier’s playing it now and I can’t stand Markiplier and his obsessive SJW fangirls who ship him with other LPers (really fracking creepy when they do that on real people.)
 
The last straw was a friend of a friend picking up the game and gushing about it on a camping trip last June, and it was sprung on me that he suddenly came out as transgender and had a different name and everything, even dressing like a woman now, and made me very uncomfortable and when I said so, my mom outright shamed me for being intolerant.
 
So yeah, I will always love Undertale or at least try to, but MY GOD if the fans don’t make it as unappealing as possible at times.

Also Homestuck, Mystery Skulls and that creepy Markiplier fanart that SJWs seem to like drawing that ships him with other annoying and overrated LPers. It’s all the same to me, it all overlaps obnoxiously perfectly and sometimes I just wish it was 2011 again, when all we had was ponies, Adventure Time and Regular Show.
 
And that’s coming from someone who likes Undertale too. But my god do I dislike that game’s toxic fandom.

Being a fan of both of these shows… Yeah I’m not gonna deny it. But hey, you do you boo.

In fanart SU characters are indistinguishable from Undertale characters. Both are SJW cancer so that doesn’t surprise me.
 
That said I do like how the artist made all of these characters his own and got them to all connect somehow it seems.
