Things only came together after Thorax and Pharynx came together, that’s the whole point. Thorax is love, Pharynx is strength. Together they create balance.

In some cases yes, but did you forget how he tried to fight the monster alone to protect the hive despite the odds against him. Its clear much of his motivation was his frustration with the hive as a whole not just security. Honestly the changlings went from one extreme to the other and it wouldn’t be unreasonable to be frustrated with them being that docile as thier lands were being destroyed. For all the talk of feelings and being safe to express problems most of the changlings were ignoring his legitimate concerns, engaging in serious groupthink and excluding him simply for having different opinions they didn’t like. Really with as wimpy as they had become if he wanted to he could have easily overthrown his brother and seized control and likely nobody would have stopped him, but he didn’t because he cared for his brother. And still you can’t dispute it was the changlings who went through the greatest change socially he was just the change agent that forced it on them. Unfortunately most people need to be placed in positions where change is necessary to survive or thrive before they will accept that they should adjust thier behavior or thought process even slightly and sometimes it only takes ‘being an asshole’ to do it.

Pharnyx was demonized because he was acting out in completely assholish ways. Not because he cared for hive security.

I feel like the new changlings are somewhat of a tongue in cheek dis on the college kids and others that demand safe spaces and can’t deal with the real world or different opinions. Thoraxs brother was almost completely correct in his thinking the whole episode and demonized for it. Despite his transformation and reacceptance into thier society in the end his outlook didn’t really change, the changlings were forced to deal with reality again and found value in his practicality, and lotalty to the hive despite it being down right against him (occasionally for good reason). I think alot of people might walk away with a different opinion but I think this was one of a few morals of the episode, intentional or not. This episode was hilarious though either way.
