You’re forgetting that they can also shapeshift into scenery.
Maybe their characters in that scene are also changelings. If you’re going to create artistic media from scratch, you start with increasing your own representation in media as one can imagine existing depictions of changelings are negative, recently outdated, and from the point of view of outside cultures.
