I mean, you could argue that Lauren Faust based the original design style for the show loosely off the Powerpuff Girls, plus there’s the fact that she is still married to the PPG show’s creator Craig McCracken. Also, Tara Strong voiced Bubbles. So there is a connection there

Nope. It was hyped as the first fan-made full-length MLP:FiM episode (altou8gh the major flop that was “Dusk’s Dawn” preceeded it around 2012-13)

I remember only finding out about double rainboom strongly before it was released but didn’t they advertise it but it was going to be like an actual episode of this show?
Yeah, I found it disappointing too. Too much focus on the crossover aspect
