I meant the pink thing in front of it.
That’s her tail.
A bit of a nightmare to moderate, too … just going from what it was like on Facebook when they introduced that. But, either way, carry on.
The discussion we were having was about the perspective of this image. If only the comment sections were threaded. But I know that would probably be too much work.
Silly me, I thought the discussion was about this image.
I said composition, not compositing. Those are two completely different things. And again, perspective was the topic of discussion, so it’s relevance to anything outside of the discussion is, well, irrelevant.
Edited
But the composite was not created as a still frame. When compositing, perspective is secondary, as long as no harm is done. There’s no reason for the architecture of the scene to satisfy anything outside of the purpose of the scene, as long as no harm is done.
I get what you’re saying, but this discussion was about perspective, not composition. Also, every angle has its own vanishing point. It may be outside of the viewing plane but it exists. And again, the floorboards are not parallel to the edge of the map.
Edited
We’re telling stories, and the map’s vanishing points “point at” Twilight, who despite the other conversations happening is the focus of this scene
The floorboards are just running parallel (plus or minus) and the other angles of oddly placed boxes don’t create any true vanishing point (although they do tend to draw the eye to the hat) and we’re on a boat which is covered with curving surfaces, so …
It’s fine.
We’re trying to tell a story and keep viewers focused on the subject of the story - not design a boat.

Look at that serious pony wearing the pirate hat. Who’s the serious pony wearing the pirate hat?

If you know a better way to manipulate people’s eye during a scene, use it. Otherwise this is fine.

I didn’t make the edited image.
@Dogman15
Two problems. One, the edge of the map is not parallel to the floor boards, and two, right angles are not preserved when a 3-D space is viewed in perspective, so you cannot draw perpendicular lines like that.
Correct. The perspective is all wonky.
I think it is running Perpendicular with the floorboards.
So perspective lines?
What is the second line even following?
That still doesn’t explain how the other characters are drawn differently then the ponies. I need specifics if i’m to understand your reasoning.
You did not make that clear.
Also, it’s not an issue of budget. Backgrounds with solid colors and simple outlines are cheaper then detailed backgrounds with no outlines.
With that logic, the movie is using, the same artstyle as the TV-show.
There’s a little more, that goes into an artstyle, than what you listed.
@Ihhh
I was not complaining about the backgrounds.
I Am fully aware that backgrounds usually are different from the characters, especially in lower budget 2d animations like this.
I where simply wondering, why people are complaining about the backgrounds, when I personally think that, the difference between the characters are more unusual.
Seems fine to me, so I will elaborate.
Most of the new characters are made with an artstyle, completely different from the ponies and in some cases each other.
If they cannot keep character-designs looking as if they come from the same movie, why should the background fit, any of the artstyles of the characters.
Edited because: Double quoting
Grammar please.
Why should the background?

Hi pot, my name’s kettle.
No i’m not, you just don’t have anything worthwhile to say to me about the discussion. You’re constantly backpeddaling to my supposed faults or stray things I said.
So this is useless, i’m unsubbing.
