If we’re being that fair, I’d have to change the title to “Since When Does Rainbow Dash Ever Notice Anything That Isn’t Rainbow Dash”.
 
The song was clearly applauding Twilight’s perseverance and dedication, it just sounded like they were issuing a big ol’ “Kiss My Dock!” to the everyone’s-a-Mary-Sue crowd, given how often she gives herself reasons to be dedicated and perseverant.

Just my two cents, but I don’t think Twilight’s a Mary Sue. She’s a high intelligence, low wisdom Mage. She knows a crap ton of magic and knowledge, but screws things up (the sleepover, the wedding, Spike, etc) due to the fact she’s a neurotic, unrealistic, genre blind twit. And we all love her for it.
