If the site administration gets upset when someone has a nice, thorough discussion on the topic subject of the posted image in the images page, then why allow any discussion on images at all?

Look, I only, ONLY, have that mindset here, on this SPECIFIC website. In fact, the only reason i started posting here was cause i felt obligated to cause i was making mlp art. On DA, I do make what i like. In fact, I make stuff that a lot of people don’t like. It’s just on here, everyone seems to be an overbearing art critic. Also, i expected more kind gestures from the MLP community, y’know, friendship and all that? But, i guess friendship is dead on here, huh? Or did it ever exist?

P.S.: Why you coming to me when you haven’t even posted anything?

Look-just go do some other art you like and post it wherever it’s appropriate. Don’t say you’re ‘leaving’. This isn’t a Starbucks. You’re not actually sitting in anything. It’s an art website. You either use it or you don’t. If you don’t use it that’s fine. You’re not obligated to continue utilizing this sites services. Just stop making such a big deal out of it. If your artistic interests lie elsewhere that’s fine. If you’re expecting other peoples approval to determine your degree of interest in portraying any subject artistically you’re asking for disappointment. You have to do it for yourself. Do it because it’s something you love. Something that inspires or moves you. While it’s nice to get attention and peoples accolades and while it might even pay your bills it’s not going to feed your soul.

Are you looking to spend your life chasing peoples approval or are you looking for something deeper? Something that will help you grow as a person and maybe even find a little more happiness or at least some peace of mind? This pony stuff can be fun but in the long run there are more important things to focus on than whether some nameless unknown person liked your art or not.

Here’s the thing: if you are doing this to be popular and get praise, don’t. You will eventually burn out. Most people do. Maybe get into blender or flash and try to get good at that, which could even give you a future in animstion. Or try another hobby if you don’t want to take the time to get good at art. Sometimes the best advice is to try something new.

Tough. That’s just how it works. Maybe use the downvotes as motivation to sit back, get better, and then come back a few years later after hours of practice every day for years. If you’re really serious about getting good, that is. Also, when you do publish something, publish it ONLY when you want to get feedback and improve; expect downvotes and ignore them.

As a content creator in many different subjects, music being one of them, do not publish your stuff unless you are confident in your skills or can handle people calling your stuff shit. I’ve been making music for years now and my stuff sucks enough that I know I shouldn’t share most of it. Because it sucks. Get good or stop whining, as people WILL dislike your stuff. This is from experience.

Only if you let yourself get too concerned with it. You’re not in competition with anyone. Personally, I’d rather get comments (good or bad) rather then a ton of upvotes.
