Huh, they do seem a bit similar now that you mention it.
We need an intentionally campy action/comedy movie nowadays.
After the first movie failed to launch the franchise, the script for Buckaroo Banzai vs. The World Crime League underwent some reworking and found new life under the name Big Trouble in Little China, so it did actually get made, kinda.

I agree with the principle of remaking flawed, dated, or mediocre movies rather than movies that got it right the first time. Having said that, though… Ghostbusters, “utterly perfect”? Really? That’s the nostalgia talking.

It looks like most, if not all, of the significant cast members are still alive, though I worry how many of them would feel (or be seen as) too old to appear in the sequel…

Never gonna happen, they’d have to renovate the Statue of Liberty all over again. That’d be way too expensive.
