I’m reminded of the nonsensical plot of Kingdom Hearts: Coded, where the journal from the first game was digitized and the digital copy of Sora gains sentience and relays his promise to the digital copy of Naminé, meaning neither of their real world counterparts actually gave nor received the promise. XD
