Alicorns are the three breeds in one. It isn’t always apparent because no one appears to give a shit about earth magic and how it works. XD
Well, she may have wings, a horn, and, uh… Earth pony parts? But she doesn’t have 3 times the mass of any of the other races.

What if she eats so much because of her magical ability and that actually burns calories?
Supposedly, it has been theorized, Twilight in Twilight Time, and perhaps elsewhere, eats for three since becoming an alicorn, one being her birth breed, the other two being her pegasus and earth forms. :3
Okay, fact-checking, the brain takes like 20% of your metabolism but thinking hard doesn’t seem to burn calories (sadly) though it can wear you out. So maybe she eats a lot because a big brain? Or stress-eating from mental activity. Apparently it’s actually stressful. Cool stuff.
Also didn’t she eat like 4 hayburgers in Twilight Time?
Welp..She already does..Unfortunately that pink cook to know nothing more than make a cake, high-sugar content cake, cake with toppings, giant cake with a naked ponies inside, cake shaped like a giant hat, cake inside drinking glass, cake for wedding, cake for funeral after wedding, cake which is nothing than a sugar bomb shaped like a cake, cake made from dead changeling, cake for fun, cake that spins like fidget spinner, cake, cake, cake, cake that got .38 S&W M36 hidden inside, cake that triggering the social justice warrior, cake that looks like a cake but is wasn’t, cake that doesn’t lie, spam glorious spam, cake that singing Malaysian, cake for tactical QCB response, cake filled with protein, taurine, whey, urine and more protein, cake and more cake. Didn’t I mentioned that Pink cook is can’t cook nothing besides cakes?

Cakelestia is the best lestia.
The common consensus/headcanon seems to be that alicorns have better everything.
They’re like elves. Whether that comes with the infuriatingly smug and condescending attitude depends on the writer.
Though it’s a lot funnier to say that they don’t have these things; I remember a hilarious fanfic where Celestia has accumulated quite a bit of lard from all the cake she eats, and everypony is poking fun at her for it.
A good headcanon is that an alicorn’s metabolism is unparalleled

It would actually be pretty cool to make a fic where she split into three different ponies, one where it’s only her personality as a princess, one where it’s just her personality for making friends and the third one is just her science personality.
