I prefer Super Mario, and Sonic over Crash, but I wouldn’t mind giving the original trilogy a shot.
Crash is still our mascot. We’re now just staging an invasion of
Canterlotanother consoleto steal their love from Mario and Sonic.Just kidding; I like Mario, too.

Not anymore, “N Sane Trilogy” is coming to Nintendo Switch too.
Really makes the old “You feelin’ lucky now, Plumber-boy?” commercials very hilarious in hindsight.
Thing is, I’d argue Crash is still a viable PS mascot. The most iconic games - the original series + Crash Team Racing - were PS1 exclusives, the handheld games are of dubious continuity, and no other game besides Wrath of Cortex went truly cross-platform. With the N Sane Trilogy as another PS exclusive, we have our mascot back.
I will admit Sly Cooper looks cool though.
Then if you get the PS4, I’d get the N Sane Trilogy and hold off on the originals. They’re good to compare, but any of the fixes made in the later games are being placed into the Trilogy plus special features. And it’s $40 for 3 games + all the new stuff when finding each one individually for the PS1 could be $40+ for the games themselves. Consider that even for a guy like me who can breeze through the levels relatively fast and yet this looks to be about 20+ hours of play (and I like doing repeat playthroughs), it’s worth the price.
Then again, this is my favorite game series, so I’m probably biased.

In fact, I am trying to save up for a PS4 in order to play KHIII and just in case it doesn’t come to the Switch, DQXI. :j

Crash 2 and Crash: Warped are generally considered good games, with Warped getting only slightly higher ratings than 2; the original Crash has a bunch of gameplay mechanics that were fixed with the sequels, making them much more balanced and much more fun. If you’re interested, the N Sane Trilogy coming out for the PS4 is a remastered compilation of all three games built from the ground up after they lost the source code but with the approval of the original publisher Naughty Dog. Crash Team Racing is considered a good racing game, and while it’s almost a Mario Kart clone, it’s sometimes rated higher and considered much better and more fine-tuned than Mario Kart 64 (which came out around the same time).
The Spyro series is also very good, with the general rating being Year of the Dragon (3) as the favorite, the original coming next, and Ripto’s Rage (2) coming up strong but still the lowest of the trilogy.

I had heard. I will likely avoid any fifth gen Crash, but I may also consider Spyro. I swear I thought Ape Escape was sixth gen, but I guess it spanned two generations after all. :3
Crash Bandicoot, Gran Turismo 2, Ape Escape, Spyro the Dragon, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee.
Be warned that the original Crash Bandicoot and Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee are really freaking hard.
Crash Team Racing.
I was actually trying to recall notable PS1 games the other day I could get for a machine a family member gave me… I drew a blank outside of Final Fantasy. XD
I guess I’m more of a Nintendo/Sega person. (I miss Dreamcast.)
To be fair I wasn’t a LoZ fan myself until I played Breath of the wild… I mean I’m not really sure what made me into one when all I liked was either Mario or classic games but everything about it is just special in it’s own way. If you get a chance pick up a copy.
They’re saving that for PSX most likely.
