Count me in as part of the group who would like to see a magic fight between these two, a friendly spar or misunderstanding scuffle where they cut loose. The latter would only happen if both of them saw each other as hostile and get defensive. For the record, I like both characters and don’t care who wins.

I felt the opposite way: them getting along can only stay in character as long as they don’t know.
 
Sunset: driven by ambition and ruined her social status, became overwhelmed by magic from another world, got friendship zapped painfully clean, and had to work hard to regain her reputation. She got beaten painfully and learned. Opportunism.
 
Starlight: lost a friend over a talent, brainwashed a village, destroyed the world (even multiple times), did not get friendship zapped, did not have to work to regain social status, and even kept her world view that brainwashing others is okay. She did not even get beaten but only convinced not to do something like that again. Sociopathy.
 
If anything it’s resentiment if not outright justified envy.

You know now and days, every time I think about how this fight would be like if they were both alicorns and getting 100% serious in both of their pony and human forms (only with them being equally matched in magic and combat skills and having the ability to switch between both forms on the fly), I just keep thinking of either of these two themes from Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami playing throughout the whole thing:

Oh, trust me. There’s plenty of fan art that’s groan-worthy. And there’s plenty of Starlight and Sunset fighting pictures out there.

Never have I seen a fan art that could possibly made me groan.

Nah. She’s best as a side character. Someone for others to bounce off with the occasional episode to flesh her out. The last thing I want is her to become overused or put on a pedestal over other characters.
 
If Trixie won all the time, She’d lose a lot of her charm.

Hmm, I’d take it. After the speciel, Barring mind control or other unforseen factors, The chances of the two engaging in mortal kombat is thin indeed.
 
Maybe in many years time, If there is ever a continuity reboot like the Transformers franchise regularly goes through, we’ll see them throw down properly.
 
Although, I’d prefer A New Trixie Vs Twilight fight. Or Trixie vs Moondancer. Or Trixie vs anyone, really. She doesn’t even have to win as long as She’s her own awesome self while doing it.

Oh I didn’t mean you would like that because of that reason. I was mainly saying that a good handful of people would.
 
And besides, I agree with Mojo with his comment. The only conceivable reason why they would “fight” would be to test out each others magical abilities in pony form. Like how Twilight and Starlight do. Just good a clean sparring mach.

Trixie’s my best. Sunsets not even in my top 10. Nice try. Those characteristics and an inclined writer is all it would take. And it would be awesome no matter who won, though, yes, I definitely wouldn’t be rooting for Glimmer. It would most likely end in a Draw or a fight interuption anyway.
 
Or Them discovering their mums have the same name.

Misunderstanding? I’m not gonna lie, that’ll be pretty forced and stupid. And besides, Sunset’s too humble and Starlight’s too anxious and overly nervous about ruining potential friendships. Also, at this point, both characters have the tendency to try and talk things out before they take on a “hands on” approach. So that misunderstanding wouldn’t really last long. So even with those traits you listed, it still doesn’t really make much sense.
 
And let’s face it, y’all thought it’s be great if this happened because it would involve “best character” (Sunset) beating on “worst character” (Starlight)

How is it out of character for them? Sunsets aggression and Starlight’s Impulsiveness plus a misunderstanding could easily lead to a scuffle. Superheroes do it all the time. Because it’s cool.
 
Most of us weren’t hoping for it, so much as we thought it would be great if it did happen.

Well, that’s how Trixie and Starlight connected. They’re kindred spirits because of their dark pasts. Sunset is no exception.
 
Here’s what I don’t get though. This fandom absolutely HATES IT when characters act out of character. And something like this happening would be the most out of character moment for ANY character. Yet you guys wanted/expected this to happen anyway?

Yeah, that’s kinda the relationship I expected from them twi, with each other trying to impress the other… but it ended being another “praise the Glimglam” case like always, and that’s getting on some people’s nerves these days.
