Because they have a dark fetish for handicapped ponies, as evidenced by this adoption.
I never was going to say “Pinkie Pie doesn’t count.”
Sight gags don’t count. That Applebloom scene is a poor example beacuse:
One: All of the cmc where levitating.
Two: That is a clear sight gag.
While that scene with Pinkie pie was not funny, it was still a cartoonish overrepresentation of Pinkie Pie’s feelings and therefore, effectively a sight gag.
What Scootaloo was doing in those twos gifs was not an over presentation her abilities.
I’m not the one so overprotective of my headcanon that I have to make three separate posts trying to defend it.
Scootaloo cannot make any manner of sustained flight, just the stunt of getting her to cloudsdale is proof of that. The second gif of scoots you keep posting is a jump that sends her right back to the ground after her peak, and how many characters have made an exclamation and levitated off the ground while doing so?
Then how about this?
Remember when even Applebloom was levitating?
Going in even deeper, what Rarity and Pinkie Pie did in the gifs here are clearly only stuff cartoon characters can do as there actions are cartoonishly over the top.
This one might be a little silly, but it’s nothing as cartoonishly over the top as Rarity’s or Pinkie pie gifs in this thread.
This one looks nothing like a cartoonish gag to me.
Heck, with that route that argument makes less sense beacuse the context is for the Rarity scene that she is acting like a character used for silly sight gags.
The CMC in comparison to other characters (EG: Troubleshoes Clyde, Cheese Sandwich, Pinkie Pie, ect,) are not used for Cartoonish sight gags as much.
They are, sometimes, the least silly characters on the on the screen.
Edited
That’s not what you said.
You said that Rarity had better height in her cartoonish jumps, I provided logical evidence to the contrary.
I think you are moving the goalposts here.
Besides, what looks more like a cartoonish sight gag to you:
This?
Or this?
To me, the first one looks like legitimate flying, the second looks like a silly cartoonish gag.

I’m saying that the claims that “Scooaloo is flying” are no different than the “sight gags” that have been used through the series.
Going in even further, let’s Occam’s razor this.
What’s more likely?
Rarity has major athletic abilities we have never seen before.
She can also break the laws of reality being able to hover for a short time that she never uses again for some reason.
She used them only onse to not even get close to how high Scootaloo flew.
Or:
It was a funny cartoon physics gag that we don’t need to question.
In the other gif, she goes even higher, going above RD’s dad.
All Rarity did was go barely higher than a non cartoon physics boosted jump.
Heck, Scootaloo’s wings clearly had more energy lifting her out of a cloud and the above RD’s Dad’s head.
Rarity was at ground level and jumped with a bit of a cartoon physics boosted jump.
So, really, if your argument is that rarity did better, then you are wrong beacuse :
A: She had cartoon physics boosted jump.
B: It was a sight gag.
C: In that jump she didn’t go higher then the stall’s roofs, and the only time that happened it was a sight gag bouncing.
Again, cartoon physics gives her an unfair advantage, so much that you can’t really compare the two.
Edited
Scootaloo went way higher then rarity did in this gif.
Plus, what Rarity did was a sight gag done by being a funny cartoon character, scootaloo flew higher then her in a non sight gag.
Rarity has gotten that much air. It’s called a jump.
Yes she has.
And yes, in this epsode she did.

No she hasn’t. The last “flight” she did was in Flight to the finish and she isn’t getting anywhere. She’s been getting around on her scooter and even in Parental Glideance, zero flying was done by Scoots.
I don’t think so.
She has been progressively getting better and better at flying, I see no reason why she won’t be able to do it in the future.
Already been discussed. Only way Scoots is flying is if she gets prosthetics.
I need this episode.
Hey, what did you think of the beginning part of the episode?
The slingshot and scootaloo’s adorkable antics meeting RD’s parents for the first time?
I’m sure just seeing Scoots move in or Dash calling up scoots to “head on home” would be enough to make every lose their marbles, much like AJ when she said:
“If Mom and Dad were here, they’d be so proud.”
Scootaloo was so moved by Dash’s parents that she didn’t even understand why Dash was irritated by their admittedly over the top antics. Between that and her little, ‘I didn’t have anyone growing up to tell me I’d do great things’, that seems like a vague version of ‘I have no parents, but this is TV Y so I can’t outright say it’, to me.
It seems to me like each new episode building on Dash’s relationship with Scootaloo builds on this surrogate family idea. Scootaloo gained a sister in Sleepless in Ponyville, after this episode, she also has supportive parents she never had around before.
Long story short I wouldn’t be surprised if this kind of story aim is where we’re heading. I for one would be blown away impressed if we actually got into mentions of adoption in this show, though I’m more inclined to believe they’ll continue to simply depict it with no specific mentions.
One thing is for sure, whether they get in depth with it or not, it’s adorable.

Yeah. I’d start on building an ARK if I could foresee this happening.
