@GaviaoKing
the comics more like the extended universe is in Star Wars though, supported by canon but not canon itself?
I admit i havent watched the first two episodes in a long time but i dont think we actually see the “smoke” returning to the moon or anything in the show itself just the giant light show and blue-luna in the next scene?
and the comics arent officially canon i was always told by other people whenever i mentioned something that happened in them so dont know.
I love Luna but I was glad seeing s7e01’s title and thinking Celestia was finally, finally getting her own episode. I hope that’s not the most we’ll see her in a single ep because I need more Celestia.
@Twilestia
Well, in the show the mane 6 uses the elements to send the smoke back to the moon instead of nightmare moon herself, in which later returns but in the comics and almost manages to turn rarity into a permanent villain and literally enslave the mane 6, and spike.
So yea, the smoke is a sentient being and can do stuff.
@Twilestia
Technically the best would be for both Celestia and Luna to be dead then.
Along with the villains Discord, Chrysalis, Sombra, Tirek and the rest.
It would leave us with a gen3-like cutesy show.
@Prof.NightJack
That I got. But the fact it’s not established makes it open to open (mis)interpretation.
EDIT: UNRELATED: I f*cking love this script - my name thanks to it is Stellar Kills!
@GaviaoKing
so your saying killing luna would have been the best solution, i actually agree but luckily Celestia found a alternative that could have ended badly were it a tragedy/dark show rather then a childrens cartoon.
@GaviaoKing
No idea which is true: posession or NMM being Luna.
That said, this gives and idea what went after she escaped.
Probably took a lot out of her, considering how… lacklustre her attempts to stop the M6 were.
Not that they werent deadly…
@Prof.NightJack
Nightmare foces are canon in the extended comical universe. But show canon constantly shifts stuff around so it’s not clear whether it’s true or not.
@GaviaoKing
You talking about the “nightmare forces”, the things it was never really clear if it was part of the show’s canon.
Lauren had said about her idea of something corrupting Luna at one point if I remember right, but it was never put in place as somthing canon to the show.
This is the first I ever heard of that, I have to call bull seeing how people that like to parrot Lauren’s ideas would not leave that out.
The being queen part of it is well known.
@kztxl7
I guess the specifics are a bit icky since the whole plot deviated from the original idea…
That said, she was crazy and/or posessed. I guess I am biased… but it’s kinda hard to look at it otherwise.
@PonyPon
No. Originally there was meant to be only one, Queen Celestia. And no sister. And Nightmare Moon was to be called Discord.
@Background Pony #E587
Considering she broke out of prison and her first idea after those 1,000 years was “Screw it. I’ll do exactly what got me put in the moon in the first place a second time!”, clearly being trapped on the moon wasn’t enough punishment.
Problem is people are incredibly biased in favor of Luna to the point of making Hitler apologists look tame.
And this is precisely why Lauren faust wanted there to be only ONE, single princess - to avoid divided loyalties.
As for why people are generally more reactive when it comes to Luna - it’s pity I guess.
I mean, both were hurt by the 1000 years apart but Luna was worse off.
Yeah, you could say she might deserve punishment (and some idiots think she still does) - the whousand years trapped on the moon was punishment enough. Then there’s the fact that she was so depressed, she tortured herself with Tantibus…
Celestia on the other hand appears… perfect. And that’s a problem. Yeah, she’s been getting more and more approachable and emotive as the series progresses but she’s sorta-kinda just there.
The above is just an observation and overly generalized, but it’s true.
@Background Pony #21C1
… What? I am sorry but that would be non-sense. Luna is loved by the majority of fans, the fan favorite princess, and is generally always the most popular in the majority of forums, comments, and polls. It would make the very argument completely void by switching.
@Background Pony #3768
Yah, though Celestia is in dire need of catching up to her sister when it comes to major screen time and character development.
@EquestrianScholar
No reason. Just answering the question. Personal bias in favor of the moon over that flesh burning sun in my case if you need anything passing for a reason.
Now all that is needed is to have the “op has a point” tag permanently removed from the old, inaccurate one.
But “someone” thinks that proving a point is false for a logical reason means nothing if they think it’s true.
