I actually have a similar idea, only Sunset is Logan, Twilight is Laura (maybe Cadance is Gabriella?), Mane Six as her little friends, Princess Celestia is the senile Professor X, and Demon Sunset as X-24. Seems to fit a bit better…
 
And there ain’t no more Alicorns in the Valley of Dreams…
