There’s a difference between “being a hypocrite” and “having double standards”. The crew here apparently have a rule: you can talk smack about mares, but not about any mare one of crew really likes. That’s a double standard, but it’s not hypocritical unless they were actually claiming they treat all mares equally.
Doesn’t, matter, because this is 1, Starlight, 2, she’s not a random mare that’s a total stranger to everyone and nobody knows well enough to respect her on a personal level, 3, it’s also about how Spike views Zephyr as a friend, buddy, or groupie.
that third point I hinted towards when I said, Zephyr could’ve continued to disregard Spike and his change in mood, one that was made very painfully obvious as a social cue.
well, that’s probably the last reply, because I also have nothing else to add that I haven’t said.
Again, the only thing Zephyr did that was “worse” than Soarin was to talk the same things they said about other mares, only applied to Starlight. That’s why it’s hypocritical. The reasoning is it’s only bad when it’s about Starlight. Other mares are fair game.
However, I am done with this talk. I doubt we’ll ever reach common ground at this rate. Let’s just let it go.

and I don’t care if you think they’re inconsistent, I’ll say again that you’re wrong, because you are thinking of something completely different here.. Spike didn’t make it about it not being cool to talk about mares’ asses, you are the one making it about that when it’s clearly not.
I don’t see anypony owning up to anything. Soarin and Mac pretend they never said anything bad and it was all Zephyr. We’ve yet to see how Spike will even react since he had no idea they’d just exile Zephyr without a word. Who knows, maybe he’ll tell them that’s a dick move.
sure he is. He is consistently unhinged and unobservant, that’s why Spike and the others lost all respect for him.
Think about it for a second, even without that cut out from when things got heated, do you think Zephyr is the kind of guy who would admit when he’s in the wrong, when in the show we’d seen him blame Literally anything but himself, in all situations? All I’m taking from these two events is that, he fucked up, he didn’t own it up and disregarded Spike completely.

Does that really make it much better? Soarin was the one who first talked about feeling mares up. If Zephyr is worse, it’s by a tiny amount. It looks more like they use him as a scapegoat, now that they’re tricked him away they are suddenly free of fault.

They merely commented on her appearance, but Zephyr said he’d like to slap her butt. Soo I’d say he’s worse.

That makes no sense. It’s okay to talk about feeling up mares’ butts, but as soon you mention a mare one of the other guys likes, something Zephyr probably had no idea about, you’re banned? Even if Soarin himself was the first to comment on her appearance? What did he say again, she has “nice assets”? Say what you will, but out of all of the guys here, Zephyr is at least consistent.

nah, they’re not hypocrites, because it’s not about mares, it’s about Starlight. Spike knows and respects her for more reasons than her ass.

No, i meant that maybe Soarin and Big Mac lied to Zephyr, figuring that Spike might still be sore at him. If so, then that was really nice of them.
Truth. I love how Dane Cook makes a joke out of it. Many don’t like him, but I’m one of the few that do.
While that may be true, it does not change the fact that they now shun him when they’re no better. Also, “friends”. That remains to be seen whether they are, I have my doubts.
Every group of friends has that one no one likes.
