You make it sound like Chrysalis’ defeats were any less Deus Ex-y than the other villains, which I don’t know about. Like, the power of love doesn’t seem that different a mcguffin than the power of friendship. Plus, Chrysalis is a schemer, but again, she’s not much of a threat without her drones or a very loving host. She lead her minions through fear to keep them from getting ideas because she knew she’d be all but powerless without them. She may not have the luxury of having a contingency plan when she literally has nothing to fall back on.
I’m fairly certain that anyone she’d get to “assist her” wouldn’t be obtained without a fallback plan. Chrysalis is one such villain that deeply thinks out her plans before acting on them as both of her attacks resulted in a total victory. Tirek was beat by “putting the faith in the box”, Discord was beat by “remembering who they were”, and so on, but Chrysalis was only beaten the first time due to the repelling wave of Shining and Cadance, and the second time was by Thorax himself and his unusual lifestyle in comparison to the others of the group.
Both times were “unforeseen” situations, so, yeah, if she gets someone to work with her, she’d need something to ensure they couldn’t pull a Tirek.
True, but I don’t think Chrysalis would be that desperate enough in getting her revenge to want to let Tirek out of Tartarus. He would betray her like he did with Discord.
Well see the thing about Chrysalis is her intimidation factor isn’t entirely her own. Without her hive or an ideal host to feed on, she’s not exactly an overwhelming threat. Ergo, any chance she has for revenge might have to come from from outside assistance. Probably from siding with another villain like Sombra or Tirek, and if that’s the case, Chryssy could find herself at a major disadvantage if she’s not careful.
True, but it always seems to be the case whenever things look their darkest and Equestria is about to capitulate to the enemy. Whenever it looks like the villain will win, cue the Deus Ex Machina at the last minute to undo the villain’s hard work and return things to normal.
Indeed, the four of them had to go sans any magic (beyond Thorax) and had to outwit their foes, which was no small feat, again requiring a deus-ex-machina, but this one had more foreshadowing than the “changeling repelling wave” of Canterlot Wedding.
@northern haste
Aye, and it was a big worry folks had.
The BEST scene for Chrysalis returning would be a final conflict between her and Thorax and during the conflict, they clash horns, like she did with Celestia, before they exchange some words before Thorax’s beetle antlers grab her horn, he twists his head and snaps her horn off, removing her energy charge. Considering we’ll be seeing a hornless unicorn soon, we may get an idea of what a broken horn actually means…
I know we are.
She could be growing, like Cadance did.
Indeed. It was their heroics that spared Equestria a second invasion by Chrysalis and saved the lives of the Mane Six and Royal Family as well. They earned some sort of reward for it, not to mention a debt of thanks that the Mane Six and Royal Family probably won’t be able to repay anytime soon.
Unless they’ve been deeply haunted by what happened, and when those fears begin to show themselves, the Mane Six and Royal Family will need all the support they can get to overcome it and prepare for Chrysalis when she returns for her revenge.
