I guess I have been watching too many reruns of shows from the 80s in the 90s then. Looney tunes were from the 60s.

90s level ability to mention death in kids’ shows is about the same level as today. Possibly a bit lower even.

I say roll the standards back to 90s level. Back when kids’ shows were allowed to depict and mention death, mild alcohol use, and guns.

When people say it’s because MLP is for kids (as a reason why bikini fanservice in MLP will never happen), I just wanna say something loudly:
 
“SO IS FUCKING TRANSFORMERS, G.I. JOE, POWER RANGERS, MARVEL, DC, SUPER SENTAI, KAMEN RIDER AND OSOMATSU-KUN! AND YET PEOPLE ARE OKAY WITH THE BAYFORMERS, POWER RANGERS AND G.I. JOE MOVIES NOT BEING RATED PG BUT RATED PG-13! SAME THING FOR THE MCU AND DCEU (despite that some or most people complain about them for legit (for TF and GIJ) or dumb reasons (mostly MCU/DCEU)) AND PEOPLE WERE ALSO OKAY WITH A MATURE AUDIENCED KAMEN RIDER (With films like The First and The Next, and A show called Kamen Rider Amazons) A OTAKU-AUDIENCED SUPER SENTAI CALLED AKIBARANGER AND A GINTAMA-ESQUE REBOOT CALLED OSOMATSU-SAN! WHY IS IT OKAY FOR THEM TO HAVE A MATURE AUDIENCED VERSION OF IT BUT NOT MLP AND LPS?!!”
 
Sorry for rage. I just felt sick and tired of people treating the “it’s for kids” excuse to prevent a mature version od said kids franchise from existing like Bayformers, PR 2017, Akibaranger and KR Amazons.
 
Oh, and with all due respect, don’t give me a short answer that has the whole “Different Shows for Different Audiences” shindig if you want to discuss while replying.

Oh please, given today’s cartoons that is already considered fanservice especially for cartoons here in the west. If you think about it, the only reason why the guy thinks it’s fanservice is because his brain is used to the fan service in Japanese anime which totally defines scenes such as this to be fanservice when in fact they aren’t in the western sense. To a person who doesn’t enjoy or isn’t accustomed to anime, they wouldn’t even think about it in a sexual way since they wouldn’t think about 2D characters the way we do. lmao. XD

I don’t know about y’all, but I love the fan service they provide in both the main show MLP:FIM and side show MLP:EG. At first, I thought that EG would just crash and burn after the first movie, but surprisingly I have grown attached to our girls in their human forms as well probably in most part due to the fanservice. Sure the setting is different, but the nice slice of life aspects from MLP:FIM have carried on quite nicely in MLP:EG and with the sprinkle of fanservice here and there it’s all good. :3
 
One thing is for sure Hasbro has certainly, as least for an older fan like me, made lighting strike twice. 0.0 Hell, I started watching this show when I was a 20 year old guy, now I’m in my mid twenties and still enjoying every bit of it. XD

Loony Toons was something we don’t have today. They were cartoons made to be shown in theaters before feature movies. You used to get a newsreel, a cartoon, a B movie, an intermission to get snacks and pee, another cartoon, then your big-ticket feature film. Loony Toons were not made for kids. They were made mainly for the adult audience, with some more obvious gags for the kids.
 
Decades later, groups of old Loony Toons theatrical shorts were packaged into television show episodes and feature-length movies. They had characters in blackface and the like because you could do minstrel shows in the 1930s and 40s, when the cartoons were actually made.

Also–it’s totally weird that this guy considers that shot from Littlest Pet Shop as “fan service”; it’s really telling.

Considering what the fans do with the screenshots, I don’t think “fan service” (especially for a show made for girls) is needed at all in…any of the movies or the show. I’m OK with that, honestly.

All because of MLP is a “children” merchandising.
 
What’s your excuse?! Little Mermaid had Ariel with Seashell Bras and she’s half naked at the middle of the movie! What was the rating? G! And I know that it’s for kids, but ironically they would’ve made Ariel semi-revealing with her breasts seemingly showing about 90% of the movie.

The human faces in Littlest Pet Shop freaked me out.
