Establishing this happening after S6 finale. (And rarity is still bitter from events of Magic Duel in a previous page)
Don’t forget demonic possession.
It really should have ya. What’s worse in my opinion is that it’s rarity who initially refuses to work together, trixie assumes they would work together but rarity brushes her off rather coldly and trixie gets upset. Granted trixie probably should have made the effort to work together anyways, but it still comes down to rarity being somewhat of a hypocritical twat.
Harshwhinny is disappoint.

Well certainly reckless, it remains in my eyes an understandable decision on trixies part, just not one that resulted in a positive net gain for her. We know she had been ostracized from pretty much all of pony society for very petty reasons at that point, and ended up having to take a job she hated to make ends meet. Not only would this be a blow to anyones ego, if they made one mistake in the job they loved and the retribution for said mistake was vastly disproportionate to the severity of said mistake, but she was also prevented from pursuing a way of life that made her happy (and obviously made others happy if the cheering crowd at the start of boast busters is any indication), which would obviously affect ones mental and emotional state of being. She was basically under a ton of stress about turning her life around from a very very low point, made a stupid decision that she probably didn’t think through (given her confidence she most likely assumed she could be the master of the amulet, not the other way around) and things only moderately got out of hoof really given the shit ponyville deals with from its own saviors on a regular basis. Certainly not the right choice as it where, but one i do feel you can make a case for trixie not exactly being in the right state of mind to make good decisions.
It really is another example of one of the main sixs actions biting them in the tail again in my opinion, especially considering how that keeps happening to twilight specifically.
Even so, the shop keeper mentioned it was a known artifact, and even Fluttershy was able to look it up in a book.
One would expect any book Trixie might have used to learn about it would have included the same information.
In any case, the shop keeper did warn her it was dangerous, but she didn’t even pause to consider. That’s still pretty reckless to ignore his warning like that.
Not necessarily. Trixie may have only known it was a magic amplifying amulet.
Because she already knew what she was looking for when she entered that shop. Which means she must have researched it beforehand.
How could Trixie have known that the Alicorn Amulet would corrupt her mind? I don’t think she did.
If we pretend for a moment that dark magic’s corrupting influence is similar to mind-altering drugs:
Involuntary intoxication is a valid defense, because it removes criminal intent.
Sadly for Trixie, she voluntarily sought out a dangerous magical artifact with the intent of harming Twilight Sparkle. She also knew exactly which Amulet she was looking for, so she was fully aware of the risks, but did it anyway. So she is responsible for the consequences of the reckless choice she made.
Actually, what’s more baffling is, is there not even any continuity between the Friends Forever series and the mainline MLP comics?
Because c’mon, Nightmare Rarity ring any bells? Those two words would shut up Rarity instantly
Used mind control not long ago in fact. Like, one of the last things that happened before the changeling invasion, long after her supposed redemption, so outright betrayal in addition to generally being a skeeve.
woops….uh yeah that is exactly what I meant…. wow, did I drop that ball.
Comic writer actually.
Whats worse is that in an earlier comic, Rarity helps prove Trixie’s innocence for a crime that happened during her own show. So they literally just ignored that continuity. Great job comic artist…
You’d think Rarity would be more understanding. You’d think at some point in the process of writing this issue someone would have realized that Rarity’s rancor towards Trixie doesn’t make sense. Starlight did far worse than Trixie of her own free will but somehow that’s ok because she’s a main character now.
To be fair, Trixie sought out the Alicorn Amulet specifically for revenge, Rarity got the Inspiration Manifestation spell from Spike in order to cheer her up.
Still, neither were in full control of their actions, so it’s still stupid.
