I used to use dummy objects to see things like that in the past, but ever since I learned how to change the background color, I don’t know how I managed the other way.
I guess that… if the final vector looks nice, then great, despite of the preferences.
Changing the background is better than making extra blank objects imo.
It’s under document properties. I tend to make it a shade of gray.
Or as I said, create a black object after finishing the vector and put it behind the character. Both ways works.
Wow, I had no Idea you could do that. That would definatley make things easier for vectors like this.
You can make the Inkscape background any color.

Looks like I accidentally moved the ear down a bit before exporting. The white Inkskape background certainly didn’t make that error too apparent either.
Looks like there’s a small hair layering issue at the bottom of the ear, and some of the ear fill is extending past the top and upper left edge of the ear stroke line. There’s also two fill gaps, one in the middle of her forehead and the other in the middle of the neck. Dark theme makes all these things pop.
Though I think you accidentally painted more than what you should in the ear, and also there’s a little layering error in the hair:
It also happens to me sometimes, that’s why when I do vectors I create a black object and I put it behind the character, to see better those mistakes.
