It marked her achieving her destiny and becoming a princess, though - Very significant changes in her character and status (and actually kind of awesome the way they did it). That doesn’t need to equal “raw magical power”.

That’s all Watsonian though. From a Doylist perspective, it makes no sense to use all that “Ascending to Heaven” symbology in MMC and for there to be no power boost of any kind.

That being said I still think there are lots of criticisms about Starlight that are fair game (including the other points about her power level, like the lack of schooling). The “she’s not an alicorn” isn’t one in my eyes.
True, but after further reflection, I’m starting to see some references in this comic arc to the episode of The Powerpuff Girls episode, Tough Love, as Accord is essentially the Friendship is Magic version of “HIM” as he brainwashes the Mane Six, Starlight, and Celestia’s friends, family, and citizens to his way of order, putting the Solar Sovereign, the Elements of Harmony, and Starlight, in a position where, in order to save Luna, Twilight, and everyone else, they essentially will have to incite chaos in Accord’s order by attacking the brainwashed ponies, which will convince Accord to see the error of his ways, turn back into Discord, and return everyone to normal.
Whether or not this ends with Luna, Twilight, and everyone else having to be patched up and covered in bandages afterwards is up for grabs.
Discord did explain to Luna and Twilight the reason for his transformation into Accord was of his own free will, so Celestia and the others will have to convince Accord to turn back into Discord of his own free will by inciting chaos in his order.
There has to be a balance, remember? One cannot survive without the other.
Other way around. An ad hominem would be calling you wrong because you’ve never passed a lit class, whereas I’m inferring that you’ve never passed a lit class because of how wrong you are.
If it happens, all I can say is Twilight better win next time.

Because that’s an actual inconsistency.
You’re telling me that Discord, the guy so powerful that the only way anyone could stand up to him was through the power of the Elements of Harmony, or from the Season 6 Finale, through a Magic Sealing Throne, + the power of all the ponies of Equestria put together somehow matches the power of the four Alicorns?
That would mean Discord was so weak that it begs question why the needed the Element of Harmony to defeat him or the amount of magic in Equestria is incredibly small amounts.

You’re dismissing things that don’t conform to your headcanon. Then you’re doing the predictable thing and demanding we give you proof. There could be dialog in the show where Celestia herself talks about how much more powerful Twilight is now that she’s an Alicorn, and go into the backstory of Starlight, and blah blah blah, and you’d still dismiss it just like you dismissed everything else. It’s hilarious, in a sad way.
That is why no one wants to engage with you. You’re criticizing others as doing what you’re doing yourself here.
I agree. I’m upset that Discord basically is now reduced to Mai Flutterwaifu.
Still, I’m a DBZ, JoJo and HxH fan, and I REALLY like it when two characters who are more or less equal in strength or abilities duke it out.
So I’m still hoping for a Twilight vs Starlight to happen.
If you’re not going to bother to point out actual statements in which it is told that being an Alicorn gives you a power raise or the being the Element of Magic makes you the most magical then all you’re doing is giving me your personal interpretations.
You clearly don’t have evidence or any statement that backs this.

Uh… yeah? That’s kinda why the show made such a big deal about it. She died, ascended to heaven, and came back transformed. That’s pretty standard demigod symbology.
