As soon as the castle doors opened Pearl darted through the halways up to her cousins room.
“Be careful honey, don’t strain yourself too much” yelled her father behind her as he put the bags down.
She didn’t care to listen as she soon stood outside her favorite (and only) cousins room. They had always gotten along swimingly and Pearl saw him as her best friend. Without hesitation she swung the door open and trotted inside.
She could see him huddled up on the floor, face burried in his teddy bear. She swore she could hear him sniffle softly as well.
“Cousin?” she asked carefully
His ears twitched as he glanced up, sniffling once again. His eyes were watery and it was obvious that he had been crying for a while.
The little filly smiled her warmest smile at him as she sat next to him placing a hoof on his shoulder.
“Inky, why are you sad?”
The little colt looked down on the floor.
“Mommy and daddy don’t love me anymore. I’ve been bad and made them yell at eachother” he mumled barely audible.
“What? That can’t be true! What did you do?” she said surprised.
“I don’t know…” he sniffled shoving his face in the bear again.
“Maybe they were just tired. My parents fight too sometimes when they have to wake up in the middle of the night to take care of my brother. They think I can’t hear, but I do. They only do it when they are tired” she said trying to cheer him up.
“Yeah… maybe you’re right… it was very late” he glanced up again.
Pearl stood up and smiled wider
“Of course I’m right! Now come on, we need to go slay the moon minotaurs! They have captured Queen Celestia in the doom crater!” She coughed slightly but recovered herself quickly, ready to play.
“Oh no! We need to save her” Inky said as he perked up a bit.
