He’s kinda awkwardly charming (not in an oafish way), kinda mature (he talks to Shimmer about his past relation ship with her openly) and talks like… you know… a character, not a placeholder.

i’m sorry but i didn’t watched the movie, after rainbow rocks i pretty much gave up on EQG. But tell me how exactly was him in the movie?
They kinda fixed that with the everfree movie, they gave Flash a pretty cool personality.
Now we really should be focusing on the image at hand though.
personally the flashlight shipping comes in second plan, the thing i’m most concerned is the actual characterization of flash. making him an charismatic character and with some importance for the story, making him more “alive”, that would be more than enough to shut my mouth
Exactly. For example, given that it was established he was dating Sunset at some point prior to Pony!twi’s arrival, he could have been at least central in giving the Mane 6 some idea of how to approach her, maybe something that could have come up during the final battle (“You were kind once, remember that time with Flash?”) so that it wasn’t just magical rainbows that defeated her.
But instead he was reduced to what seemed like a forced relationship and resolving a critical plot point in all of 2 minutes.
I would love it if they made him a bodyguard in Twilight’s castle, even if they’re not in a romantic relationship.

flash isn’t bad, he’s just blank as a white paper. If they want they could easely make him a worth character, both pony and human world, but the chances of that happening are near 0%
