It really is a travesty, though long ago they were once delicious. However, consumers can’t tell which are the most delicious without ruining them with a bite mark. They can only tell which are the most red, and it was found they buy the reddest apples as a proxy for the flavor they can only guess at.
 
So they were bred entirely for increased redness at the (massive) expense of flavor, and now taste like Shinigami-world apples. (Which, for those unfamiliar with “Death Note,” taste like sawdust.)

Not as bad as Red Delicious apples, whose misleading name is a travesty.

It warms my heart knowing there’s someone else out there that hates Galas enough to make this. <3

Dude, Honeycrisp cider is the best

I’ll take a Honeycrisp or a Jonagold over a Gala any day.

Gala’s okay, but I prefer Granny Smith and Red Delicious myself
