Also, Accord is still same Discord with same memory but different nature. If he somehow going to attack or imprison Fluttershy while Starlight get away, then its another shitty writing. All of his episodes where he obsess or sacrifice for Fluttershy will be ignored for plot convenience. If he is still him then he should have the same fondness and respect of his friend. He would rather do what she ask him to.
I cant get grumpy at a fellow cage fan.
you do you bro.
Before I have written this response I am currently writing, I tried to write a rebuttal. Only problem was, it was shit. You are right. She does lack some self awareness. That being said, I will probably continue to try and justify ponies that I really admire. Look, I like Starlight, alright? I know you don’t, and that’s fine. You are free to have your opinion. I just feel like our judgment of things is clouded based on whether or not we like something. For instance, the reason you said Starlight in the comics is more self aware than Starlight in the TV show has to do with the fact you don’t like Starlight. And you know what? That’s fine. Once again, you are entitled to that opinion. However, when I responded to you, I responded not to prove a point, but because of one simple reason: because my judgment of her is fueled by the fact that I like her, and sometimes I feel the need to justify my viewpoint as if there’s a right or wrong. I’m sorry.

Not self aware enough to realize that brainwashing and fucking with freewill is inherently evil no matter the justification or personal circumstances and yet its usually her first resort when things get difficult.
self awareness, common sense or just plain decency, whatever you call it, this version of starlight seems to have more of it.

Excuse me, but what do you mean by her TV counterpart not being self aware? Self aware is defined as having a clear perception of your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotions, and she obviously knows one of her weaknesses is being social. On top of that, she’s always making jokes about how she used to be an evil cult leader, so she’s aware that that was a bad point in her life.

That much I agree with, but until the previews for Part Two come out, not much any of us can go on with in terms of speculating what will happen next and whether or not the Royal Sisters and the Mane Six can fight back against Accord until they can find a resolution to his situation or not.
I feel like Fluttershy should be the one solving it or at least aiding Starlight, since she is his closest friend and even in this story she knows that something isn’t alright with Accord. And i also think it would work more toward the finale message about “wanting friends the way they are and not how society want them to behave”
Starlight seem sort of forced in here and only relevant because of Discords mind control and criminal past. The only traits they both were sharing.
That’s what I’m worried about if he manages to mind control the Mane Six or the Royal Sisters by catching them off-guard while they are working on turning him back into Discord or figuring out how he became Accord to begin with. If Starlight is left to solve this on her own, I’m not going to enjoy this story arc in the slightest.
I really hope that when I read Part Two next month, Accord does not manage to take the Royal Sisters and/or the Mane Six out of action so Starlight has to deal with him herself, but I won’t put it past the writers if they pull that move in this arc as well.
Whatever. It’s not worth fussing over. But, knowing this fandom, people will overreact anyway.
As long as the episode itself is good, I really don’t give a shit if they reuse/reword a lesson. Episodes like Filli Vanilli and Scare Master gets way too much hate.
Starlight supposedly already learned that lesson. Yet, Fluttershy supposedly already learned the lesson of being less shy and more assertive. Yet she essentially relearned that question at least twice.
The writers will reuse whatever plot line they see fit if they think they can give a different approach to it.
I did???
You answered your own question.
Hell if I know.
Because you never know, she might just do it again slightly differently and claim she didn’t know it would be an issue, or miss some kind of crucial detail to what’s she’s doing.
Once again, you never know what she’s gonna do, or how much damage she’ll cause in the process.
I do however know how likely she is to get away with it.
But she’s already learned that lesson. So what’s the point of confronting her magical morality? It’d be as bad as what they kept doing with Fluttershy where she kept learning the same lesson over and over again for four seasons straight.
Yes, because they not only cleverly avoided confronting her magical morality but completely wiped it as a factor for the majority of events.
Oh come on. Even after the finale, you’re still doubtful.
