Considering that a lot of future events in the show emphasize earth ponies’ magically-increased strength, that scene is all but retconned at this point.

I still can’t get over how RD beat AJ in hoof wrestling in Fall Weather Friends, though…
I mean, the only plausible explanation would be that RD must’ve worked on her upper body strength like Applejack works on her lower body
