Spike: At least you still had lines in the rest of part 2. I didn’t even get to talk at the very end.
GIGA… HORN… BREAKER!!!
Aww, I wanted my big dumb Gurren Lagann fight. <.<
The thing is that you can’t really fight it because it’s not much of an entity as it is a force. It’s a part of the natural balance of the world as much as the positive of friendship.
Ooh, I think I like this headcanon. And the evil that overcame them was the Pony of Shadows, the same malevolent force that corrupted Luna into NMM. And THAT’S the final boss of the series, and everybody’s got to join together Gurren Lagann-style and defeat this eldritch abomination from beyond the stars using the power of friendship.
And that’s why I’m wondering if they will ever show Celestia some love, especially in the new season this Spring…
Chrysalis is not actually an original changeling. She was an alicorn and a Queen of Crystal empire amd she ruled it with good King Sombra. Something happened and she turned into a monster by dark magic. As a monster she found changelings and she became their queen. In the meantime, King Sombra, filled with madness and despair turned into evil Sombra obsessed with crystals since they were supposed to give him power to find Chrysalis, his true love which, was detached from him and took the form of the crystal heart.
She loves everything, as long as it doesn’t want to harm or destroy. And that’s probably it. XD
Was talking more about the changelings then the others. poor wording on my part.
@SuperSonic15
Maybe though ironically enough I think it would’ve made the scene above better if they had a few changelings go up and offer the solution along with Starlight.
I don’t expect Luna to be remorseful about Chrysalis maybe Celestia but honestly I have hope. The show doesn’t know what to do with Celestia.
Well, it is justified that when Chrysalis escapes, Celestia looks saddened that Chrysalis remained consumed by her anger, hatred, and thirst for vengeance. So if that time comes, Celestia and Luna may feel remorseful when they have to condemn Chrysalis to Tartarus for eternity since she refused to accept friendship into her heart and repent.
They had the choice to not be kidnapped against their will or…? :\
Blaming Chrysalis entirely really doesn’t work though. Otherwise it makes theirs choice completely meaningless as they have to carry no responsibility along with it.
It’s a common mistake constantly made by similar stories where they’re too afraid to put blame on the people who make said choices and just undermines the decision.
Considering all the Death Glares they gave her when confronting her once brought up-to-date by Starlight on what happened, I would not put it past them to pin all the blame on Chrysalis for all the trouble she’s caused and all the grief she’s put the Royal Family and Elements of Harmony through.
It less has to do with how useful they are and more about how little investment in conflict it has now. Them being able to solve their problem so effortlessly was a massive mistake and just makes the changelings look like a joke.
@CronoM
I wouldn’t be surprised if they stopped acting like violent monsters. The ponies didn’t seen to show any hesistance towards them at all. The show usually by mistake or not tries to portray the ponies as being uplifting plus with how the episode ended they’ll most likely going to put the blame all on Chrysalis.
I never said they would be weaker. I did refer to them as basically elves afterall. What I did say is that they have likely lost most of their natural instincts regarding feeding, fighting and deception since they were based on being a violent, feeding-on-others race, of which they are suddenly NOT. They barely resemble their old forms. And for the elites sent to replace the captured ponies, they were straight up sadists and enjoyed their work and were cruel even when it wasn’t necessary.
If you have a good idea what “in some way that is similar to their previous forms.” would even be like given their overhaul, I’d love to hear it. I agree it may be too soon to tell, but that much of a status quo change doesn’t leave much for the imagination in terms of flexibility. They have an entire kingdom of fairy ponies pulled out of Hasbro’s ass, they have no need for subterfuge or known changeling skills in the least.
AND, if they DO retain all those instincts, they they are still a bunch of violent monsters in the bodies of bedazzled fairy ponies with possibly more magical power then before. Which as ridiculous as that concept is, its also the most logical; for the grunts its literally all they’ve ever known ever, acting like violent monsters. This isn’t overthinking things either, this is basic common sense. Thorax was the only one who gave a crap about feelings from the start. Giving the love from their bodies ‘once’ is not going to change their entire life experience.

To quote Supernatural on how insane a LESS severe modus operandi change to sentient but conditioned beings is even WITHOUT a sudden and complete physical overhaul….
Castiel:“Trying to explain free will to angels is like trying to explain poetry to a fish.”||
It’d be really confusing if they lost powers.
Has anyone asked the writer about it yet?
Changelings are probably useful in some way that is similar to their previous forms. I don’t know where you’re getting “weaker because they embraced friendship” from, and while too soon to tell, I’d imagine love-empowered changelings are actually stronger than regular ones.
“Derpibooru 2016”
Heh, don’t think that hadn’t crossed my mind too XD A while ago a ton of us thought BonBon was a secret changeling cause of her multiple appearances and different voices. Her reveal was not that far from the concept already, considering she had a complete falsified identity that no pony would normally be trained for. (There was Tealove also in Black Ops, but she was IDW exclusive)
I honestly would of loved to see that if a dozen or so changelings kept their naturally abilities and instincts to a degree but liked Thorax’s way of life better then Chrysalis, and elect to use their skills as Equestria Black Ops. Thorax would help with rehabilitation, and BonBon would be their mentor for their jobs to keep Equestria safe. (Of course, ALL of them miraculously turning into flutterpony-stag beetle elves with no killer instincts in sight is kind of deal breaker on that idea. Or, any idea resembling consistency or common sense really)
I hear “All of them are trained to be attackers, kidnappers or killers.”, and I think: Repurpose them as Equestrian Black Ops.
Agents like Sweetie Drops merely adopted a double life. Changelings were born into it, moulded by desperate hunger. They didn’t see the magic of friendship for generations.
I hope I did not say something wrong in regards to my earlier comments…
Okay, whatever then. This is why I don’t write books.
A plot device is anything which moves the plot forward, her being captured(like all the others) would count as a plot device.
So it wasn’t her that was the plot device, and it was just at the end.
