Actually, this gets into this growing thing in physics called emergence. Take a single element that behaves in very simple, predictable ways. This can be a bird in a flock, the motions of a single planet under a single gravitational influence, or the behavior of a single neuron.
 
Now put this single element in an enormous group, and the group behaves in fascinating and unique ways - there are emergent behaviors. The flight pattern of a flock of birds is very different from the flight pattern of a single bird. The behavior of astronomical objects, when there are many, are radically different from the behavior of a simple 2-body system. And finally and most obviously, a single neuron behaves very differently from an entire brain of neurons.
 
Yes, the brain is composed of atoms, but in that assembly of atoms, there is something far more complex and intricate than “mere” atoms. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts, if you will. In fact, in a simple system where every entity connects to every other, the whole is (n-1) times greater than the sum of the parts, where n is the sum of the parts :P
 
That is, even ignoring things like the mind-body problem, and the impossibility of the existence of qualia, which are things I’ve talked extensively about in The Religion General, but that is getting a bit far off-topic.

It only exists because of physical processes, but it’s not a physical process itself. By your logic, glass is sand because glass is created from molten sand. Causation does not equal association. Just because one is a physical process, an easy to explain and understand set of processes that we know as bioelectro-chemical, does not mean that the ultimate product of all of that is physical.
 
I suggest you read and study instead of coming to conclusions that ultimately show you’re illiterate on the subject.
