The Master System had 15-color sprites. But it only had 64 colors to choose from, and all sprites had to share the same palette. So while it could do any one of these (more or less), it couldn’t do several at once.
It’s 8-bit but its GPU is 16-bit
Oh yes definitely not optimal, I believe both ways are correct though since this can still be for 8bit systems with these arranges, why not leave it the two tags then?
Technically you could make some of these possible in an 8-bit game using some trickery, à la Mega Man’s face being a different color palette to the rest of his body, but that also required making his face a separate sprite entirely and just layering over the terrifying empty hole where his face goes.
But that isn’t optimal for use on all of these in an 8-bit system.
That is True they do have a lot of colours, perhaps if you’d put them altogether in some sort of 8bit game you’d not have room for everything that is true, however if you were to make them single/alone, 256 bytes is more than enough for all the data.
please just say “retro” or “pixel-based” because none of these sprites are 8-bit, they have too many colors.
