Oh Thank God.

No, we’ve already got confirmation that S7 is in production.
He meant it as “You know there’s still the rest of THIS season, right?” He literally says it as the next line. He’s implying she’s got more episodes in THIS season.

If it’s for a main character transition during this season’s time, I feel they do need to hurry it up in their efforts (and I don’t mean that in a ‘rush it’ sense). People are just going to call foul, if it simply comes out of nowhere… again. She’s stretched many people’s suspension of disbelief enough as it is.
But that lack of direction is, in itself, a direction. She said it herself, that’s she’s found herself at a point in her life where she has to relearn everything she ever thought she knew. She’d dedicated her entire life to eradicating cutie marks and enslaving the world, and now that she’s seen the error of her ways she has to start from scratch to discover who she is. She’s searching for a way to escape her past and find something to live for now that her life’s work has been destroyed.
And besides, her story’s only just beginning. You mentioned Rarity’s multiple boutiques as an example, but that didn’t even start happening until 5 seasons in. Give it time to actually happen before you write the entire thing off.

Yes, she has her friendship lessons but so far thats all she has. She needs a goal or interests in life outside of her lessons that have nothing to do with her past so her character can branch out in differant directions. Variety is the spice of life And Starlight is in desperate need of some extra layers. She could just do everything that Twilight has already done but how boring.
Applejack had her farm and family.
Rainbow dash had her goal to be a wonderbolt but she also love sport and pranks.
Rarity is extremly motivated by ambition and a genuine love of fashion, hence her expanding boutique empire.
Trixie is so popular because people love a character who wants something and is very self motivated.
Starlight needs some of that mojo. A hobby or an interest outside of and separate to her friendship training.
Three episodes besides the Crystalling? Huh? Spice Up Your Life doesn’t count, the episode wasn’t about her at all. And even Hearth’s Warming Eve spent more time on a story within a story then on Starlight herself. Only No Second Prances was mostly about her, and even then she shared the spotlight with fan-favorite Trixie.
Actually, they already do have the beginnings of a new direction for Starlight in the works, and it’s all tied into those friendship lessons. So far, we’ve seen Starlight learning the true meaning and value of friendship, stressing herself out over the possibility of disappointing her mentor, and working through her own insecurities and naivete to emerge a wiser and more socially comfortable person.
In short, Starlight is taking over all of the things that Twilight used to do pre-alicornication that have since fallen by the wayside. Except with Starlight we see those things as filtered through the eyes of a former villain trying to turn her life around. If they continue with how they’ve been handling Starlight, she could prove to be an excellent opportunity to bring back some of the earliest facets of FiM that people loved in the first seasons while still pushing ahead into new territory.
I don’t know, I feel like that’s still a huge if at this stage, though. I feel like they still have much work infront of them to make something like that work.
Wall of text alert.
Next opinion is heavily based on Mr grump’s thoughts from another thread: Now that she’s turned “good” she no longer seems to have a clear chatacter archetype, hobby or goal in life that would make her easy to write or pinpoint what direction they are going with her, if they choose to develop her. Like Discord, she kind of just… is there. I mean, she has her friendship lessons, but it’s really hard to make out what the end goal with them is supposed to be, it really feels more like a psychiatric rehab more than anything.
Another thing is integrating her to the group, which we haven’t seen much of… even though we are told she’s supposed to be living with Twilight, she seems to be just absent all the time.
I do however agree with Mr grump that making her Trixie’s assistant gives her this chance to be a more rounded character along the way, even if I personally didn’t like most of the things about the episode itself.
TL;DR So, what I meant to say is, I don’t personally feel like they’ve been preping her enough for a transition like that. The other option that currently seems just as likely would be to handle her like they did Discord and have her apear for her own spotlight episodes each season after this one.
Still, they do have atleast one focus episode for her coming up, so they have a chance yet to figure things out with her, and I do hope they manage to do that. I don’t want her to be just forgotten come next season.
The CMC perhaps, depending how you count them not appearing in episodes as a group, but I’d say she has nowhere near the amount of screentime Spike’s had this season.
Of course, I would never say no to getting even more GlimGlam, but I think she’s had ample amount of representation.
You see the screenshot above? Some people assume she was a part of the mane 6 already. And the way they ended season 5 and all the previews of season 6 made it look like she was indeed a permanent member of the group.
Correct, she has one more appearance than him.

It’s like she doesn’t even live in Ponyville.
she’s not main character but you would expect her to be in the backround from time to time eh ? i mean she IS A TWLIGHT STUDENT !!!
How could anyone think she’s a main character when she has less screentime than some other characters who aren’t main characters?
