Any dnd is better than 4th ed imho xD But 5 is great. Fairly simple, balanced enough (although bards are op), finally core classes are just as good as multiclassing… Yeah great all around.  
As for Shadowrun, I strongly suggest using the SR5 ruleset. I don’t even know if 4 exists at all, but 3 had some confusing stuff to it that 5 got rid of. (Btw I played a humanized Trixie in SR once. Was fun until I got arrested for an unauthorized magic show xD)

I just read the rules for 5th and made a half dozen characters to learn. Definitely seems a lot better than 4th. Haven’t really looked at the rules for Shadowrun, but I know the setting.

I just really want to play D&D in general, but our group’s DM is a bit flaky. I just recently heard from him again a few weeks ago after 6 months and he’s still waffling about whether he wants to play, 4th ed., 5th ed., Shadowrun or Rogue Trader.
