Might have been removed as a mistranslation. And besides, even if they are twins, Mario is still the older brother.
Also, both Final Fantasy 4 and Final Fantasy 6 were retranslated when ported to GBA.
Edited
Really?
I’m curious what other games have alternative localizations.
The GBA version of “Yoshi’s Island” actually removed any mention of the Mario Brothers being twins, (in the story intro & ending sequences) so I guess that isn’t canon anymore.
PSX used SNES script
Which is why I’d like to compare scripts by playing the ports.
The DS/PS1/Mobile version’s english script is apparently more accurate to the Japanese version, but many fans still prefer the SNES’s localization regardless.
The original SNES version on the Wii Virtual Console. I figured the DS version would be the better choice since it has more content but I bet finding it would be a pain and I heard the Steam version was poorly put together. So I settled with my first playthrough being the original SNES game so I could experience what the game was like to so many people back in the 90s. Also, the Wii Shop Channel was closing down so I figured this would be the best way to own a legitimate copy of the game.
DS version?
“Then the world changed, like, super hard. So hard that it split into multiple copies, in fact.”
Edited because: Made a mistake.
The future refused to change.”
Guess it depends on each person’s taste.
I remember reading a good newspaper review of the DS version before. The guy who wrote it remarked he’s glad they didn’t put a bunch of touch-screen controlled minigames in it. It’s actually kinda funny in hindsight how butthurt some used to be over that on the DS, considering how common touchscreen controls are nowadays (with tablets & smartphone games) that nobody even calls them “gimmicky” anymore.
Only because they grew up with it.
Which is funny since I did too and I prefer the DS version myself.
I just have the SNES one, (via Virtual Console) but the DS one looks nice too.
Some fans prefer the more corny translation of the SNES game.
Recommend the DS version of all the versions.
(Great game BTW, I recommend it to even those who aren’t normally into RPGs.)
Funny you should mention that, because there was a Doctor Who comic in 1992 where the Time Lords prevented the First Doctor from ever stealing the TARDIS to go on adventures. Let’s just say the Universe turned out worse and the Seventh Doctor (the newest one at the time) had to fix it.
Huh. I have noticed an awful lot of images very quickly accumulate four downvotes and then stay that way for a while of late, come to think of it. Didn’t really think about it before, though. Noted it like you might note checking the clock at the same time AM and PM.

There seems to be a person or persons that downvotes just about every picture…
