Because Soggoth is a late minion, and due to his card being a taunt, he’s not going to survive long since the enemy player will either cast a spell that randomly destroys minion, attacking it with other minions and finish it with an AOE or RNG spells, and it can be mind controlled if Sylvannas is destroyed. Now if you played Soggoth after you play this card, then it can provide protection thanks to its taunt.

Well yeah, but spell damage isn’t really much if you look at the warlock spell cards. With +1 Spell Damage you’ll get

Mortal Coil: 2 Damage.
Soul Fire: 5 Damage with 1 discarded card.
Curse of Rafaam: 3 Damage
Dark Bomb: 4 damage
Demon fire: 3 damage. Friendly demon still get 2 rather than 3.
Drain Life: 3 damage. Still get heal by 2.
Shadow Bolt: 5 damage.
Demon Wrath: 3 AOE damage.
Spreading Madness: 10 random damage.
Hellfire: 4 AOE damage.
Fist of Jaraxxus: 4 damage.
Imp-plosion: 3-5 RNG damage.
Bane of Doom: 3 damage.
Demonheart: 6 damage. Friendly demon still get 5 rather than 6.

7 out of 14 spell cards would be considered viable out of the 25 warlock spell cards that exist in the game. Compare that to a class that heavily uses spell, its not going to be much. A buffed Demonheart has the highest damage that focuses on the enemy, and mages has Fireball that deals the same damage. Spell damage would do greater damage against your opponent and his/her minions, but it can also do the same against you and your minions. I really don’t want to do that, regardless of playing a warlock class.

Overpriced. Just compare it to the Velen’s Chosen, which gives the same amount of stats and +1 spell damage for 4 mana less :P
