Lots of people have converted diesel engines to run on used cooking oil, and most restaurants will just give it away for free, since otherwise they’d have to pay someone to haul the stuff away anyway.

The original Volkswagen Beetle’s transmission was lubricated with whale oil; when you burned out the clutch, the whooole neighborhood knew about it. The original Diesel engine was designed to run on rancid peanut oil, though, so it’s not like olive oil is an inherently silly thing to put in an engine.

So it would increase friction in the crankcase by its low viscosity at operating temperature and get acidic quickly, possibly attack gaskets from its higher acidity and possibly leave sludge in the crankcase from blowby and lack of ability to carry dirt to the filter. Sounds like what motor oil used to be, before detergent oil was common. The smoke, flash and fire points of it are all quite impressive on its own though not speaking for if it were used for miles.

Well, extra virgin olive oil has a slightly higher viscosity than SAE 10 weight motor oil and a smoke point that’s roughly twice a typical car engine’s operating temperature, so it would actually work for a while; the main problem with it is that modern motor oils include detergents and additives to prevent/delay breakdown at high temperatures when exposed to air and gasoline vapors in the crankcase. Olive oil is popular for cooking in part because it doesn’t oxidize nearly as fast as most oils under high heat, but exposure to the volatile organic compounds in gasoline vapor would accelerate the process and likely turn it gummy much faster than proper motor oil.

I’m genuinely wondering what would happen in depth if anyone would do that to any engine. (Oil’s viscosity, how the lack of detergents effects the oil passages, etc.)

If he was married to a cyclist, only dinguses would give him any flak about catching a ride to work on the back of her bike…

…Especially given the circumstances.

2.) We’ve seen taxis do it all the time in Equestria.
 
3.) I admit that there’s a bit of squirm involved in seeing the same thing with the pony customer replaced by a human, due to the connotations of the power dynamic (the visual is normally associated with a sentient and beast), and the wife as a patient servant rather than co-partner.
