I did find it interesting that it was the old design that got toys after the new one was introduced to the show.  
Also I find it a bit ironic that a complaint about season 6 was basically that it wasn’t plugging a toy line(even though it was I don’t think people actually looked at what was in explore Equestria)

They didn’t have any Changelings ‘till the action “Heroes of Harmony” (or whatever it’s called) lineup came out a year ago.
 
Heck, Nightmare Moon didn’t even get a toy ‘till years after the show premiered. Hasbro wasn’t aware girls like villains too, ’till later.

also as I recall Flurry’s toy didn’t came out after she was introduced in the show.  
I also remember seeing people say that the changedling were for toys and even after a year they still don’t have any

Honestly, I can’t think of any toy tie-ins forced in the show sense Season 4’s “Rainbow Power” gimmick. Which was honestly rather subtle, and ironically, their “Rainbow forms” (that some fans, and ex-fans whined endlessly about) were only in the entire season for like 2 minutes.
 
Some try to argue Flurry Heart was only added to make toys of her, but that could be said of almost every other character. (And they could’ve used li’l alicorn Skyla instead from the toyline, rather then go through the trouble to make a new character, if that was the case.)  
Also, seriously, people are complaining about Armor & Cadey finally having a kid after how many years of being married? I was surprised it didn’t happen sooner. (And with Cadey being an alicorn, I would’ve been more surprised if Flurry wasn’t one.)

Yeah, in fact, I see more TMNT merch’ in stores personally, but I still like TMNT.  
In fact, I’m kinda glad to see merch’ as it kinda shows they’re still popular. Some franchises go overboard though.
 
I saw on Youtube recently, that the classic movie E.T. famously had alot of terrible merch’. At least, TMNT & MLP have some quality in their’s.

You’d think with all the characters Hasbro would capitalize on the popular BG bit ones more. They’re actually surprisingly popular with kids, as well. Some kids even know who “Derpy” is.
 
It’s funny though, considering how much some older fans hate the show “selling out.” (They forget MLP was always a cash-cow franchise.)

I meant more of the stocking / production for lesser known Ponies such as Trixie, Starlight and Maud Pie seem to be scarce over here in the Uk… specifically plushies. The only officially licensed non-mane 6 pony plushie I own is a funrise Octavia Melody (which i love).

Twilight’s coat color is a bit too dark, but on the whole, these look better than most of the official plushies… Would you feel guilty about buying one?
