Season 6, Episode 12: Spice Up Your Life

Always exciting getting new ponies introduced, and I think this one spiced
up people’s lives quite early into the episode hah. I was quite liking all
the spice names, but also just the reference to Indian culture and flavors
and all that. It’s definitely an interesting one to include into ponies, and
since they do have a lot of vegetarian dishes it all fits in quite smooth as well.

That topic, though haha. I can say a lot about feedback, criticism, communication
and all that, and frankly it’s a very hard thing to master, a skill you have to learn.
But then there’s also how you use it and for what reasons… and oh gosh, did they
show the bad sides of that heh. There’s a lesson there for sure, multiple ones even
(albeit related to each other). Make up your own mind, be open to new things, or at
least be respectful to the opinions of others, don’t force your own upon the folks around you, etc.

Had to make the new pony of course, Saffron Masala, although slightly sad
I didn’t include her father. It was quite a touching moment to see him
brighten up, getting nostalgic, at the end. Maybe I just have a soft spot
for nostalgia, but still, it was nice seeing a different face on him.

One of the few ponies with dark hair like this. Although I didn’t
end up making too much details to make the best use out of it I think.
It’s definitely a bit simplified at areas, but the face was fun to make,
trying to translate her slightly different features into my style.

Anyhow, now I’m kinda hungry…
