I attempted a much better crossover of CT and MLP once. More FOE inspired, though it was being done before season two was even finished. (So like, Cadance was Celestia and Luna’s mom, along with Starswirl as their dad, Starswirl created the Elements, as well as the Gates, Discord complete evil, etc.) Basically the Mane Six (save Twi and Spike) get scattered throughout time, and for different amounts OF time for each, so they’re all older (by different amounts) and serve similar functions to the CT characters. Though I had Fluttershy be the Ayla equivalent (owing to the notion that her chiropractic skills seen in Lesson Zero translate to Super Butt Kicking skills), Rainbow Dash as Frog (though no unfortunate forced species shift, I don’t think), AJ as Robo (cybernetic instead of robotic, having a leg replaced, and an eye, with cybernetics.) Rarity is more or less Marle.
 
And like, time itself had changed so that even the present is vastly different from what Twilight and Spike knew it to be like.
 
Really though with the way the new seasons brought in all kinds of things, the story would look super different. I mean I had some great ideas, but integrating things like the Changelings, the Crystal Empire, Tirek and Sombra, Starlight, the Tree of Harmony… all these things would improve the story even more.
 
It was too ambitious a project though. I lost interest in maintaining it. But I think I still have the notes sitting around somewhere… maybe I’ll make those publicly available. Let someone take them and do stuff with them.

eh, it was an exact retelling of the game with the characters replaced with ponies.
