I think people would be arguing about this less if the Wonderbolts had actual badass chops to back up their military culture. Cause given their success record and apparent status as very high profile circus performers, they come across more as Internet Tough Guys then actual rough and tumble military people.

Dash was a right dick too at first with that ego, and they were giving her a hard time for it. She couldn’t bother to LOOK BOTH WAYS and that caused a near accident.
 
If she complained all I’d say as Spitfire is:
 
“Dash, you may have been hot shit in your little happy friendship town, but you are not in your small pond anymore.
 
You are with other ponies who are just as talented and many have worked as hard for years for it.
 
You’re the newbie Dash, we were ALL newbies once, and if you want to be the best then your gonna have a lot of hard days. We are not treating you special.
 
If a little teasing is gonna be enough to set you off your game then you are a danger to my team and everypony out there watching!
 
We are a team and we all went through a lot of shit to get to where we are today. You should know that being the best is not always fun. We are a team, and we’ll go through hard times, and we’ll be stronger at the end of it.

In all honesty, it sounds like you wouldn’t be able to join a military unit that wouldn’t bend over backwards for you, and ignore the fact that not only were you objectively wrong about their ability to rescue (which, again, is not their primary job description–and would be higher were it not for the Worf effect), but ignoring the plain fact that everything done wrong around them has not been their fault or is part of ordinary camaraderie which they all had to share. Which is probably Dash’s problem, too, she’s not Lightning Dash but consider that not only has there been an entire episode about how self-obsessed she is, the first thing she does when she joins the group she’s been idolizing about is try to act like she owns the place. “Element of Loyalty”, my plot.

The Wonderbolts aren’t really supposed to save anyone, I see them more as performers than heroes.
 
Although, I never really liked them. Individually, they all have nice characters, but in group, they only remind me of those jerks you can find pretty much everywhere who think bullying is no big deal

That’s part of the problem that people don’t seem to get in fiction–since they like to project themselves onto their characters, they assume that the character should be acknowledged as the perfect wunderkind instant expert that they clearly are (right?!) immediately. That’s not how it works.
 
Look, for example, at a recent example that showed it correctly: Zootopia. Everyone assumes police Chief Bogo is hassling Judy because she’s a rabbit and tiny and seen as not physically capable, but no, watch it again. What’s the first thing she says? “I was top of my class at the academy!” And so she thinks she’s too good for menial work. You can see that the Chief respects her abilities, but she has to earn her way up starting from the bottom. It’s no different for Dash here.

Not to mention the fact that the Wonderbolts are a TEAM! You can be the best flier in the world, but if you can’t function with the team, it might as be called the Dashbolts.

That wasn’t the Wonderbolts, it was one retired member and he got punished for it.
 

 
Why would she snap at them? She was a newbie to being an actual Wonderbolt. They all knew she was a great flier, but that didn’t equal knowing how to do their routines or all the other rules.

What is it with Rainbow Dash and plots that could just be resolved through clear communication?

Rainbow Falls. They lied to Rainbow about Soarin being too injured to fly and lied to Soarin about being worried about him. And they didn’t even visit him.

@Lawful Girly I totally agree on that one lol. I used to be one of those sheltered ones to tell you the truth. Then, I grew a backbone (or got out of my comfort zone, for those of you who think THAT’S too offensive).
