I don’t see it. The skull and jaw are curved to give an impression of a snout.
Apparently, earth ponies have thicker skeletons. Makes sense, since birds have lighter bones for flight. Don’t know why they have ear bones, though.
Maybe they have multiple modified rib bones held together by cartilage?
And this cloud shaped bone will bother me for while now.
Except that we’ve seen pegasus feathers, such as in “Hearts and Hooves Day.” Besides, in the same world as griffins, manticores, and chimerae, taxonomy’s pretty strained as it is.
Probably the same reason Apple Bloom had ear bones when she got zapped by twittermites.
Also pegasus sometimes use their wings like hands… they could not do it if these were made mainly by feathers like real birds.
Maybe because she’s a mammal and Pegasus are just mimic hairs that still work similar to actual feathers.

Probably, but usually things like this are supposed to be like an x-ray printout, and x-rays go right through organs, so I wasn’t sure. I kinda like the idea of a weather-bone now
