there is the theory that the bloodstone scepter is literally made from a fossilized drop of blood from the first dragon, who is the progenitor of all dragons, and thus actually has a connection to all of dragon kind, allowing the current dragonlord to command all dragons.

It’s not just a matter of cultural laws. The “call of the Dragon Lord” implies that the Dragon Lord has some form of compulsive power over other dragons that they are incapable of disregarding. It could be that they can’t choose to disobey any more than you can choose not to fall after walking off a cliff.

This is interesting; Garble didn’t even question the order to hug everyone, and honored it. They have a great deal of respect for their cultural laws. King Torch just gave up the crown because of it.
 
Which would mean that if/when a dragon does start to disregard it, it’s all the more terrifying to them - but not so much to Spike, since he’s not lived it.
 
Plus, authority doesn’t mean you’re stronger. Any person could beat up Kim Jung. It just means you have a whole bunch of people who obey your orders - including guards and typically, a military.

Considering Ember’s position as Dragon Lord, she doesn’t really need protection here. You see, there’s that minor little “dragons having to obey the Dragon Lord” detail. If she wanted, she could tell Garble to back down, go away, or even throw himself under a train, and he’d have to do it.

the reason i liked mlp too much was the same, even though spyro has a darker story, with war, body corruption and constant combat. And mlp is just… well… friendship. A tv show of the legends of spyro would be like mlp, just with dragons and way more darker. seriously activision, you had everything to make the series perfect and you just throw it away.  
BTW there’s a comic of spyro that is just like that, “mlp with dragons and way darker” (there’s even some gore)

Oh yes definitely I was a huge fan of The Legend of Spyro, there are simply not enough fantasy worlds with an actual good story and non-human main characters, to be honest I become a MLP fan exactly for the fandom part of role playing and such because I love this styles you know? Dragons Ponies anything that isn’t just the same old humans with a good fantasy world and suitable story.
 
So been a huge fan like I was, I played the 3 titles of The Legend of Spyro (my very first bought x360 game on gamestop was the Dawn of the Dragon, perfect game, fighting as good as God of War with a story so worthy and a decent love story between Spyro and Cynder in a still considerably cheap game) so you can imagine my sorrow when Activision in the same year cancelled both the animation movie that would summer all 3 games and the fourth title The Spyro’s Kingdom that would tell Spyro and Cynder taking role as new guardians of Avalar and Dragon City to just toss Spyro as one of the many characters of that big waste named skylanders.
 
This was probably one of the “cancels” in the entertainment world that hurted me most =/

Like I said Cynder got her dark powers due to the same dark crystal meteor thingy used to bring Malefor back to life and that at the end of eternal night also corrupted Spyro giving him that dark power boost, that “relic” was collected for its powers already at the New Beginning title, when that evil villain who resurrected Malefor also used it to “corrupt” Cynder while she was still in the egg (they destroyed all other eggs and kept hers because it was the most powerful one they found when they went there to destroy spyro’s but failed thanks to Ignitus efforts) so when she was born she was already blessed with the 4 elements of darkness, poison, shadow, fear and even though not making much sense Wind.
 
when in DotD you use Fury power that is the dark crystal power used without corrupting by the way, so pretty much the entire plot and power Cynder possessed was due to that dark crystal relic.
 
Malefor was the very first purple, he killed the others(only 1 purple egg per breeding period so there weren’t that many) during the first Dragon City major war when the underground city got abandoned but he got defeated eventually thus why he had to be resurrected using the relic, I am not sure though how did the Dragons end up without a purple dragon on the events before Spyro was born though, all it was said was that Ignitus and the other 3 element master dragons were supposed to take care of him and teach him into the elements to defeat the remaining dark forces that remained after the war.

huh… if the purple dragons are able to learn more than one power, how can a black dragoness learn 4 powers? i know it was because she was in the darkside before, but she only had that “dark fire” when spyro defeated her.  
BTW, malefor said that there were many other purple dragons there, but what happened to them? did he killed them?

But both Malefor and Spyro were legendaries purple dragons, like Avatar style of power so they were pretty much even despite the size and age difference heheh also Spyro had Cynder fighting with him and she was overpowered thanks to the dark crystal meteor thingy that corrupted her while still on egg, while in this ember is forceless as it seems =/
