That's nice to hear. Being cripple is enough. Orphan enters Mary Sue territory - or more specifically, not that she'd be an OP character, but have a needlessly tragic backstory on top of her possible* disability that wouldn't really add anything to her character. Being a Pegasus that admires RD like crazy but can't fly is bad enough.


 
And it's not like we don't have enough orphan protagonists already. Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Harry Potter, Luke Skywalker...


 
Seems like it's a bit (a lot) overused.
