Yes, that’s the Western subtitle of For The Sequel. Flying Fairy is the title of one of the chapters, or, well, “altered”. :j
I never noticed the title change for the longest time because I never back out of the game, just shut the clam.
Having the FF disappear makes more sense, but copy I got has the subtitle “Where the fairy flies”. Not sure if it’s a gradual change, but eventually you’re left with “Airy lies”
Kind of forgot Flying Fairy is still the subtitle in For The Sequel. (Flying Fairy wasn’t released outside of Japan, but SEX of Japan probably held off on exporting it because they were making an improved re-release Westerners would appreciate more than FF. :3 )
As you progress in the game, the title screen changes. The Subtext ‘Flying Fairy’ glows red, and then the letters of Square’s most successful franchise fall away. Leaving you with…
I thought it was a pretty clever way to hint at the player.

Oh, well, yeah I could see that.
By which, I of course meant, I looked up art of the villain on Pixiv, and it was “amusing”, in a way. 83

Really? Well, I found out Airy was a villain by accident. I wiped out a boss too fast and forget to grab it’s genome ability, so I decided that since I was going to restart I was going to purposefully destroy the crystal to see if I actually could and see what the consequences were. Man, was I surprised.
The first one, eh? The central villain is super sexy. ;3
Haven’t played the Xenoblade games yet, but they’re on the list… the ever growing list. Currently finishing Bravely Default.
The only story elements I know of I learned from Xenosaga II and III reviews by Xplay, and it was clear to me that Xenosaga is far weirder than Xenoblade and even the X series. X3
Spike: “Ah, come on, it’ll be fun!”
Ember: sees Spike start dancing and enjoying it “O-okay… if you say so” starts doing the Elaine Benes dance
@Officer Hot-Pants
I loved that part of it too. Although some of the information entries were confusing in themselves.
@Blissey1
Yeah, I think part of the plot problem was that the writer of the first game got canned and didn’t work on the others. Basically, A couple of guys, fearing the end of the universe, throw the wool over God’s eyes and turn time back. Some people, somehow, become aware of this, reject the cycle and become Gnosis. At the end of game 3, one guy has a change of heart and helps you break the cycle, believing that humans can find a way to avoid catastrophe. Also, some how U-Do, a massive ship called Abel’s Ark and a kid named Abel, that looks like Fei from Xenogears, are all parts of how God sees the universe and there’s this spirit girl that looks like Elly from Xenogears. This is on top of crazier shit like Mechs that essentially run on Apostle juice and Cos-Mos being a vessal for the spirit of Mary Magdalene. At least I think I remember most of that correctly, its been a while.
@Blissey1
Indeed. I never got to see the anime but you have to really dig into the in-game dictionaries for an in-depth understanding of what’s going on as a great deal that goes unexplained or outright unmentioned is in there. Frustrating at times but it kind of makes sense. I mean realistically speaking, why would they take the time to explain to one another in the middle of a conversation things that are supposed to be common knowledge? Fortunately I enjoyed doing that (same with Star Ocean 3).
I want more dancing Ember
Are you me? I mean seriously, the similarities are getting to be eerie.

most people don’t. for all I love the games, the plot is a nearly as big a fuctercluck as kingdom hearts
I watched the anime based on the first game, and I dont get all the history.
the first game is one of my favorite jrpgs ever(and Xenocards is the best minigame ever). then the second I couldn’t even bring myself to finish it cause how bad it was. I never did get around to trying the third one

Because this world makes no sense. Heh. The very first game I bought for my PS2 was Xenosaga Episode I. The very last I bought was Xenosaga Episode III. I can’t think of a better way to bookend a collection.
