You have to admit that whole thing with Rarity-Spike treatment (cold opening) and Rarity-Dragons argument (2-3 times in ep) is kinda left hanging. I thought this would be resolved in this episode, but no, looks like it’s just writer’s thing or something.

I think the lady writers wanted to kill off the Sparity chemistry and make her look like somone who doesn’t think of Spike in high regards. That way the introduction of the dragon girl would be less invasive.

I’m so confused about their relationship now, I used to think Spike is like a cute nephew to Rarity, but why Rarity still “accidentally” refers him as “carrier”? Does racism really exist within ponies?
