He is defiantly underrated. In fact, he´s my favorite villain only second to Discord.  
If you want some good material on him I recommend you reading his contribution to the POV series by Alex Warlorn. Alex considers Tirek as Equestria´s equivalent to Satan and its definitive evil. He does make justice to his badassery.

But for the case. Tirek and Chryssi could both be reformed. This series is still friendship is magic and Tirek has still his brother, who could beat some sense in him. I mean we don’t know what exactly is the relationship around that time 1000 years ago. Scorpan, Starswirl, Tirek, the two sisters. Tia never explained if they had tried to speak with Tirek. We also don’t know how he was defeated. And so long imprisoned in Tartarus, which depleted strenght/magic/both. Who don’t would be pissed and look for revenge and continue of the old plan?
 
Maybe Tirek and Chryssi will join powers who know?
 
But either way, when one of them will be reformed, Bronies will ragequit like with Discord and Starlight.  
But yeah….

And Sombra. Sombra is still very dead.

We don’t know anything about the changelings, sure a compromise could be in order, but that single changeling in Slice of Life doesn’t indicate that all other changelings are thinking about the same thing.  
And dominating over is the plan A, it’s probably what they’ve been doing for generations, including civilizations or not, and I’m guessing they have done this before, since Chrysalis seemed to be doing an impossibly good job of it if this the first time for the species.
 
Think of it like this, following the exact same things for generations over generations, it’d be rebellious to just say “No, let’s think of something else”. Even if the changeling leader had this mindset, either it’d be extremely easy to make the rest of the hive go for it, or them to feel completely against the idea. The latter probably being more probable, but since this is MLP, it is possible for negotiation.

I just felt bad for them is all. There were more animals there, but I can’t read their minds so it’s not like I can say I know they look sad. And again not all of them are released into the wild.  
No, the concept isn’t a bad one, it’s practice could be better though.

I can imagine a more mob-like changeling faction more focused on sustainable, back-alley emotion trafficking as opposed to Chrysalis’ manifest, large scale invasions.

There are some that might be better regulated, almost certainly. But that doesn’t mean the concept is a bad one. Also? Being in heat doesn’t necessarily mean they’re sad. And in fact, lions breed fantastically well in captivity, so much so that they’re actually deliberately keeping them from breeding sometimes now so there’s not an overabundance of them back in the wild when they do get released.

Not all zoos are nice, is what my thing about zoos are.  
I liked them as a kid, but on a highschool trip for psychology, I saw a male and a female lion separated and they kept pawing and walking around the gates, and even after an hour they were still at it. I just felt bad for them.  
This was also one of the better zoos I went to, so it seemed ok, but there are some other ones… they’re not good.
 
And study is important, but the fact that a lot of these places treat animals like shit is what bothers me.

Well Chrysalis’ ‘meat’ has a civilization and can negotiate trade agreements and housing of changelings readily if she had chosen that path. I get that there is the circle of life and feeding habits, but Chrysalis readily has the opportunity to seek the path of peace.
 
She chose war with such glee. Perhaps the changelings would be better off with a new leader.

Well, yeah, that actually is kind of the point of that song. Life is short, do something amazing while it lasts. (To quote the 1920s poem: “My candle burns at both ends/It will not last the night/But ah, my friends, and oh, my foes,/It gives a lovely light!”) Questionable advice, true.
