I’m not sure what bronies don’t get about “Sunset Shimmer never had a chance of being in the show”.
 
Not that I care for Starlight mind you; but I’m so used to the show just completely failing at any and every remotely serious occasion that I’m not really bothered by her, Flurry Heart, or any of the other undoubtedly super-stupid things Season 6 is likely to feature.

no, we don’t like her because she’s an overpowered (Repeatedly punked the ELEMENT OF MAGIC) recolor who gets all her sins washed away by the power of montage. if she was in ANYTHING other than the actual show she would be denounced as a bad OC and the material she was in flamed to hell. One who’s shoehorning into the main cast almost guarantees that Sunset will NEVER be allowed in the main show, not even for a visit.
 
SO the TLDR version.  
Starlight is a lazily designed, stupidly overpowered, poorly written villain turned into an even more poorly written crammed-down-our-throats obvious substitute for the much more better written Sunset Shimmer who is now banned from the show.

I hope we will see Trixie and Moondancer, they’re great characters.

Sunset, Moondancer, and Trixie met Twilight before Starlight. Any of them should have been Twilight’s student before Starlight. I hope we see Moondancer and Trixie this season. I know we will see Sunset in the new Equestria Girls movie.

Uh, no. That’s what the Sunset fans who dislike Starlight as they believe she took Sunset’s place and don’t understand that Sunset doesn’t want to leave her friends from human world behind believe.
 
If the FIM writers have Sunset and Starlight meet, they would have them bond over the similarities they both share; becoming extremely bitter over something that they become all evil and then getting saved by Twilight and learning the meaning of friendship, etc. As well as impressing each other with their magic abilities.
 
Where is that fanart? Where is the in-character portrayal of these two meeting? I guess it’s out there somewhere, however it’s not very common. But what would be even better is in the next Equestria Girls movie, Sunset goes back to Equestria for a visit and meets Starlight and the two get along because of how similar they are and so we get a canon showing of this (oh the reactions of the people who portray them as bitter rivals will be beautiful).
